Howdy all,
Work is bringing me to Boulder and I expect to move in the next 1-2 months! I'm super excited for the move. I'm coming from New Jersey, so it will be a pleasure to escape from under my State's onerous thumb, ridiculous laws, and corrupt leadership. Last year alone, I came to CO on 4 separate trips to ski and climb, so it's a state I know and love. I'm also thrilled to see my donation(s) to the Hudak Recall were well spent. I've been following the current lawsuit closely and wait with bated breath to see personal freedom and true "common sense" prevail.
When I'm not climbing, skiing, or ice climbing, I like to compete in USPSA and some IDPA, hoping to try out my first 3-gun match this summer as well. Maybe even build a long-range rig now that there will finally be a place to shoot it less than 4 hours away.
Any other Boulderites here?
Regards,
ClangClang

Boulder has nice scenery. But you will be in the land of liberal hippies.
Welcome to Boulder!

And to everyone hating on Boulder.... my first choice was Jeffco - probably Evergreen. (Hell I'd love to live on the Western Slope, but it's too far away from DEN). Unfortunately, my girlfriend received a job offer in Boulder and we've got to follow the work. I can't ask her to commute Evergreen to Boulder every day. But if anyone has any suggestions on other places to live, I'm all ears. I haven't signed any lease yet. From my perspective, as long as it's 20 min or less from Boulder, and preferably in the foothills/mountains, I'm totally open.

Well I live in Erie, and work in south Boulder. My Wife works in Boulder too. Takes us about 25 minutes to get to and from work. Boulder is very expensive, and for the most part run down. We got a much newer and bigger house in Erie than we could have closer to Boulder. I'm not sure what you are looking for (apartment, condo, house) but look in Louisville, Superior, Erie, Lafayette. You can also look in Broomfield or Westminster, they are close to boulder but might take you longer due to highway traffic. I would say stay away from Longmont, not really worth the commute. Just my opinion though.
And Welcome!

I am sorry. But welcome to CO
Welcome to Colorado's 2nd congressional district where your representatives don't give a damn about you unless you're a liberal pot smoking obamacare loving tool.

Welcome!
Welcome to CO! There are some great options for living close to Boulder. I live in Louisville and it's a quick and easy drive into Boulder. Boulder is very expensive to buy or rent in and they will choke you to death with regulations. It is a scenic location though. If you want to be in the foothills, Nederland or Lyons might be a good option. Golden is a cool town. 93 can get pretty busy around rush hour. No matter where you end up, it's better than Jersey.
Welcome to Colorado, we can always use another RKBA advocate. You might tire of Boulder's congestion and oppressively leftist nutcase environment but the mountains and back country trails to the west are awesome for the skier/outdoorsman. Focus on what's important and have fun.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. Rest assured, the Boulder situation is temporary. Hoping to find myself a little slice of paradise in the near future.

Oh so that was you peeping in our place trying to see the toys haha
Erie, Lafayette, Louisville, all are better options than the outrageous cost of living in Boulder, both the rent/mortgage rates, and the effect on your soul. Broomfield too.

Boulder is fine.. enjoy it for what it is and don't get caught up in the local politics or having to be seen at whole foods. I live there for the views and the easy access to outdoor recreation, besides we need more of us in behind the enemy lines.

Wow, this thread keeps on chugging! I haven't been back on the forum in a couple days, but I'm smiling to see all the fine folks still wishing us well. I'm actually flying in this week to do some house hunting and sign a lease :)
Boulder is still the first choice for living (we're trying to be within bike distance of my gf's work) but we've got appointments to look at houses in Longmont and Broomfield as well. (Side note: If anyone has available rental property, please drop me a note!)
In another interesting development, for the first time, the gf has expressed concrete interest in getting her own pistol and CCW after a shady Craigslist transaction. I knew CO would be a good choice :)

Boulder gets a bad reputation for it's politics.... it is a college town however.
My 2 cents,
It is a bit congested traffic-wise but is quite bicycle friendly, and the recreation opportunities that are literally out the front door; are endless. It is a good place.
What do you climb?
I like trad, indoors, and a bit of sport myself.

In case it doesn't work out with the girlfriend?
