View Full Version : What happens to buy-back guns?
Sorry if it's been brought up before. What happens to them? Do different jurisdictions have different rules concerning the disposal of the guns? Anyone ever been to a buy-back?
Just some general questions, I'm sure some treasures show up at those things.

Most of the time they are destroyed. Every now and then someone with a clue will save a rare piece.

Yup, remember when you hear that clunk clunk of a manhole cover that you just drove over a Navy Luger, Sharps carbine, Singer 1911 and a 1858 Remington New Army.

"what happens to buy back guns?"
Gunbroker, auction arms, gun shows, back alley deals...........oh, and they donate the real garbage ones to the videos of them burning and melting them. Gotta keep up those appearances.

They end up in Mexico used to kill our border patrol agents. Hypothetically.
The Californian Senators sell them.

Yep, I'm thinking that perk is about to come to an end.
Many cities actually resell some of them. Some city outside of Chicago was found recently to be reselling buy back guns. I think Arizona passed a law that all buyback guns had to be resold.

I'm guessing these guys go through some kind of serial number check for stolen guns dont they? I'd like to know just how it works. You hear some good stories!

The ones that the LEO don't keep for their selves get destroyed. And yes I know a few that keep. [Rant1]
I've been saving some flea market specials for a decent buy-back... Several Iver Johnson's with missing parts, a pair of crappy revolvers that were in a fire...

Those IJ's are worth more as parts than buy back.
