Lesson learned after the fact. Strap wrenching a JP tube on a receiver in a block and vice. Found out the dust cover pin was hitting the outer JP ring for the last 1/8 of a turn. Left a mark and slightly bent the pin. Its all good but could have been nice.

scratches, dings and dents give it character. Wait till a sudden gust of wind turns your bench over [facepalm]
You shooting or entering it in a beauty contest ?

Meh, stuff happens. I destroyed a buffer tube a couple years back while removing it from a receiver after having a couple beers. Lesson learned - fully back the castle nut off so the end plate will spin freely as the tube spins. The buffer tube was no big deal but it also took a huge gouge out of the receiver in the process. The receiver still works fine. The buffer tube was sacrificed into a homemade slide fire.

Look at it this way: this makes it easier to go after it with Krylon for that operator look, lol.

Go throw it in the dirt a couple times and you won't even notice your little scratch anymore.

yeah, don't worry about it. I had a rifle fall off a bench onto concrete. Put a nice little rash mark on it that bugged the shit out of me, but it didn't affect performance and over time I forgot about it until you just re-opened that wound…. ;)

Krylon it, throw it down the driveway a few times and you now have that bad ass "Tier One Operator" look.
Voila! Your the koolest kid on the block!

See, now that is exactly why you should always buy factory blem parts. They do that stuff for you, and you get a bargain priced part!

Until you discover the "blemish" is actually out of spec machining.

Wow, buzzkill. Seriously though, I bought a "blemish" forearm, but they did include a pic of the blem. So, it wasn't really a crap-shoot. Turned out really good for me, as the blem was not visible when the forearm was on the gun. It was just a white metal bit. Heck, I could've done that much on just installing it. Now, the blems that aren't identified, that's a horse of a different color.

I drag all of mine behind the h1 so I can validate all my stories of being an operator

I drop mine on concrete when cheap slings let go or kick it off the front rack of the ATV while riding on a gravel road and run over it to get that operator look.

Damn, that happened to me too! Dumped my entire shooting box out. I think I lost my XS front sight for my Glockenspiel in the process. I'm still po'd.
