View Full Version : Adjustable gas block idea
I don't need one, but while mounting my steel clamp on low profile gas block I noted that the gas tube on my rifle and the block could be turned enough to adjust or shut down the system.
If your front sight is not on the gas block, this might be a fun thing to experiment with. Shorter tubes would have more twist which might be a problem.

Once you change the alignment of the gas tube. you have issue with gas tube to bolt interface.. the tube being out of alignment will not allow the bolt to close. IF is does close you will be getting unnecessary wear and tear on the tube face and gas key. OR damage it when BCG hits tube.
With my JP free float tube the alignment is fine.

How many folks are running free float tubes? The issue is still mis-alignment between the gas tube and gas key. Not to mention build up of carbon between the gas block and bbl. To date and the many decades i've run AR's i have yet to have an issue that required an adjustable gas block. I have acquired adj blocks in trade, they are still NIW.
If you're concerned about gas flow here's a cheap way.

the make newer click adjustable gas blocks and such - they seem to work good. You would have to have a straight gas tube style block like the Noveske switch block to get anywhere.
I like adjustable gas on odd caliber guns.
