My 10 year old son wants a longboard for his B-Day in May. Anyone know what is a good one to get him? He is like 75 lbs and 4 foot 6' tall.
Thanks!

I got my son one very similar to this one a few years back. http://www.wrightlife.com/skateboards/z-flex-longboard/
He recently bought a drop through and passed the first one down to my other son who has also enjoyed it.
Hmmm.. does he already board? Choosing a board for people that already does it can be a pretty personal choice, there are a lot of different boards out there that may all look the same to us but make a big difference to someone that knows something. I might suggest a giftcard/certificate to a local board shop and be part of the process of letting your son choose the one he wants himself?

This^^^^^^^ Lots of peer pressure among skate rats. Fond memories and trips to the ER.

Exactly this if it's anything like it was 30 years ago when I was riding them

I still have my pool board. Put on some "Uncle Ted" and go shred..... Need to take my Geritol first. [LOL]
Former skate nut here who still goes out every once in a while and prove to the kids I ain't that old.
Go to a board shop and let him pick out what he wants

He snowboard and
wakeboard but does not have a skateboard. We also will be on vacation over his
B-day so I want to be able to give him the board when we are in Phoenix AZ.
The best boards around are the Loaded boards. Get him a Flex 3 based on his weight. I rode a Flex 3 at 165 pounds just because I like the flexy boards (not a lot of high speed cornering for me). The bamboo boards hold up for a long time. You certainly have to pay for it but mine was ridden hard for 4 years and still looked/rode great when I sold it.

Jeez, nobody has a Logan Earth Ski?
Or a Makaha?
I still wish I had my Banzai board and Gordon and Smith slalom board.
Been to this shop a few times, some good guys run the shop. New boards or build your own.

Thanks for the advice, I asked my son if he would like to look at some longboards and he said "Dad I will like whatever you get me" he is a good son!
Sounds like you guys have a good trusting relationship. Hopefully that sticks around as he gets older!
