So today on my way home from work I'm cruising South down Santa Fe, as I'm crossing over Hampden BOOM!!!!! The loudest bang I've ever heard in a car. The wheel is shaking hard and I immediately pull over, obviously blew a tire. I'm in a bad spot so I creep forward so I can turn off onto a frontage road. I've never blown a tire while driving, I get out to survey the damage and both left side tires are blown. I didn't see anything in the road, must have hit a chunk of metal or something. Left rear has about a quarter sized hole in the sidewall, front showed no visible damage to the sidewall or anywhere else from what I could see. I will be curious once the shop gets them off to see what damage was done. One flat tire is doable, two flats = no bueno, so I call for a tow. Driver shows up about 40 minutes later. After several unsuccessful attempts to get the dolly wheels under my two front tires he calls his supervisor to come help. The guy was new at what he was doing and was trying hard so I wasn't even irritated with him, he was doing his best. All said and done about a three hours process to get home. Good times...

I'd say buy a lottery ticket? Odds of two tires blowing at the same time....

Unless it is a Mfgr defect?

Post Script:
With such a nice car why is it so dirty?

It happened to me around 2-1/2 years ago. Same thing on a my wife's C300, but both of right side had a huge POP sound after hitting a pot hole. It was near south of Mile High Frea Market.
Took a tow truck about an 70minute to tow the car. I called MB Roadside assistance for a free tow to the dealership at Westminster.

Costed me about north of 500ish for both tires.

Looks like they patched the roads inside the white line.

If they are damaged by public construction debris or road, send the bill to CDOT. You may get lucky and reimbursed.

Cdot don't pay shit. They got white paint overspray on a black truck of mine and wouldn't pay the detailing bill.

Must have been something in the road to take out two tires on the same side. Many years ago that happened to me. didn't see this bent small rebar… Although it stuck in the tire… One through the tread and out the sidewall...

Ouch. Crazy.
Upside, MB of Westy is pretty awesome. You pay for the awesome, but I like 'em anyway.

I believe their policy is "only if they have been previously notified of the pothole" or some such bullshit.

Then maybe I could have used the empty can to plug the huge gash in the side of the rear tire...lol

Nice of you to offer to help if a one in ten million event ever happens in the same location again haha. Hey Mack, if the same thing happens, I'll come help too!

It kind of sounds like you made that statistic up? Do you have any factual basis for that number? [Coffee]
