If any of you have not yet yet heard of this young man, I'd like to ask if you could put this on your calendar for tomorrow. Aden is the little brother of my best good friend Alexa Knar. This little guy and his family have been through more than any family should ever have to go through and all he needs is something that SOMEONE out there can share...some bone marrow. Just A FEW MINUTES out of your SATURDAY could give Aden and his family a whole lifetime of Saturdays.

The drive is tomorrow, Saturday, April 19 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
at Falcon Virtual Academy
6113 Constitution Ave.
Colorado Springs, CO 80915.

Please note that this IS NOT IN FALCON. It's in Colorado Springs, not far from Powers and Constitution.

Thanks, Sam

I'll go. Sounds like it's just a cheek swab to find out if you're a possible match.

If we end up day-tripping down there, we will stop in and test.

Thanks guys, I sure do appreciate the help and yes, it's just a little bit of paperwork and a quick cheek swab. Even if you aren't a match for Aden, you might be a match for somebody else who is just waiting for you.

Wish I was closer. To those of you in the area, this is a great chance to do something with a huge impact on someone's life.

Man.......if they can get someone closer to me to do the test I'd allow the dna swab (would be a first..........LOL). I've pretty sure I have what is called "universal donor" blood, not that it determines organ/marrow compatibility in all cases.........and I might be a mutant, but I've put myself out more for less noble causes.

Gonna bring the family by there after lunch for testing. My daughter works at the Walgreens pharmacy in falcon where they get their drugs I guess.

You can register as a bone marrow donor through the mail. I went through http://bethematch.org/support-the-cause/donate-bone-marrow/join-the-marrow-registry/join-now/

It looked like there was a really good turnout at the CS location today, especially compared to the 250 turnout they had last time. I had to park down the street from the school because there were no spots, and the line inside to get swabbed was pretty long. I got to go to a special line for military, so I was in and out pretty quick. But I appreciate everybody that showed up and waited in that long line.

Hopefully someone comes up as a match for these boys.

Tried to go down and it was already packed at 1000. Unfortunately, they have an 18-44 age screen and 44 was a few years ago so I ended up freeing up a parking space pretty quickly. Hope they find some matches.

I emailed that Hernandez fella and he gave me a link to do the testing/registration as a donor via mail (copied from email)

"You can also join on-line if you are between the ages of 18-44 at: http://join.bethematch.org/AdenKnar. If you are 45-60 to must join at www.bethematch.org (http://www.bethematch.org). You will fill out the consent on-line then the national program will send you a kit in the mail to swab at home then you simply will mail it back!"

Just want to say a HUGE thanks to all of you who were able to make it out to the marrow drive today as well as those of you who wanted to but weren't able to for one reason or another. Even though Aden is one sick little guy, I still believe that together we can find the solution to this particular problem. Maybe that solution presented itself today and we just don't know it yet. I put the original post here because I know there is no better group of people in the world than "gun folks".

Thanks again everybody!

I got there about 1345 and the wait was more than an hour. Lots of people. The lady gave me the mail sign up link so I am gonna do it that way.

Could not believe how many people were there. We were in line when they said they ran out swabs and gave us the link to register online.
What a turn out, I hope the best for them. Keep us updated to whether they find a match.
