I was at Rocky Mnt Roosters this morning. Same course.

Have you shot Izaak Walton aka Pikes Peak Gun Club?
They re-set the range every month. It is my 3rd favorite place to shoot. (favorite in Colorado)

If you ever get down to Dallas,TX there is the city owned gun club (Elm Fork) that has 3 very nice courses. Of the 2 big ones, one is a woods course and the other is a meadow course. The last is a dove course.
Dallas Shooting Club has Z-birds if you have ever tried those. (the ones that change direction in flight)

For the best course anywhere you need to take a trip to Farmington, PA. The Shooting Academy at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort puts all others to shame.

I kinda wish I never saw Sporting Clays. It is Addictive!!... but its the closest thing to hunting without killing anything.

Great Guns up North of Ault has a nice course as well. Challenging with the winds that kick up out there.

Almost forgot, Tri-State Outfitters has a private course along the creek bed at Bijou Springs Ranch site. I'm afraid I'll never be able to afford to shoot it......ever. In fact I don't believe they even charge their customers to even shoot it. It might be free with your $15,000 deer or elk hunt.... if money is no object.

Update on Pikes Peak Gun Club aka Izaak Walton. They now have 2 sporting clays courses and now you don't have to walk and switch your controller on every stand. The 1st course you use a pre loaded like credit card that keep track of the clays you purchased. The second course is a traditional on your honor course and pay afterwards. Both courses have added additional throwers at each stand and now both 12 station courses have at least 3 throwers per stand.
Went out this morning and I have never seen so many people of the sporting clays ranges. There was a 30 second wait at every stand. There were probably 50 shooters out this morning. Most were on range 1. No wait on range 2.

Republic Shooting range down in Avondale has a nice sporting clays setup, easy and harder setup at each station to shoot from. Great targets.

Does Pikes Peak have any coaching available?

I liked sporting clays the one time I tried it, but I was also terrible at it.

They don't have any on staff, but you can always find plenty of dudes that can help.

Thank you for the detailed information, I need to get there someday as it isn't very far from my house.

For for off match shoots anytime, the 20+ years i was a member, they were never open to members . They do a nice gen public shoot. Just wish they allow us members to use the one area during the week.

IF only there were a few forum members now seated on the WCFW board.

Colorado Rifle Club has a Sporting Clays area. Their stations are not specifically to mimic any specific bird species in most cases (set up as more this looks fun lets try this) and I prefer to think of it as clay pigeon golf. The range always has the same core groups of regular shooters and the occasional new group. I would not know how it compares to other locations either favorably of unfavorably. None of the traps are automated but I have a fun time with it once a month. The range although one of the better money makers for the club is an almost an austere afterthought. Here are example videos of some of the stations.......

Sorry about the post whoring to follow, but the software on this website only allows for 3 videos per post.

Thanks for the posts USMC. That looks like fun. As to the original post, I've got nothing. Last place I did Sporting Clays was Ben Avery over a year ago.
