I'll brag on my daughter. She's 6. We've been putting together gallon ziplock bags of food out of our pantry to give to the homeless when we see them. I won't give them money, but I'm happy to feed them. My daughter LOVES doing this. She'll ask about some specific homeless person for weeks afterwards, asking unanswerable questions about their status and welfare.

She has a birthday party next Tuesday. On a whim, I asked her which she'd prefer as gifts, toys or bags of food for the homeless. Without a moments hesitation she said she'd rather have bags of food. We've asked 3 more times since, and each time the answer was the same. To be honest, the last time she got worried she'd get no toys, but we assured her than mom, dad, and the rest of the family would take care of that.

That kid humbles me.
