All I can say is... wow!

In short, the law basically allows for any guns, ammo, and accessories (including silencers) to be sold within the borders of Montana, so long as the gun, ammo and accessory being purchased was manufactured in Montana - as it doesn't fall under Federal jurisdiction since it technically doesn't involve interstate trade. Oh yea - no background checks either. :)

THIS IS BIG!!!! [Beer]

This is old news. It's looks like a gun issue, but it's really an interstate trade issue. We'll see how long it lasts...

Got to be quick to bring new news to you. Be optimistic and curious to see what happens with the feds. This seems to be an experiment to me and a slap to the face to the current administration.

I only said that because it's been posted on here already a few times.

I really like what Montana is doing, and am VERY interested in seeing how well it goes.

I would love to see that pass and other states follow.

Could you imagine...a Magpul Masada without a background check!

I would think about starting a suppressor company![Beer]

Rumor is some CO legislators are considering introducing a similar bill.

What are the percentages of Dem to Republican in the house here in CO?

not sure but I doubt it would be good...besides wouldn't it have to go to Ritters desk anyways? he already vetoed the CCW bill.

This is Colorado. We should have tried this law first.

The south will rise again... armed for a court battle.

CO is not the south. Maybe south of Montana. I like that it started there. More rural and more conservative. I see more states following suite like WY, UT, ID before CO.

I believe reps are about 60 something % and dems at 40% (might be even worse)

yep thats kind of what I figured. CO would not go this route because of the fear of losing fed tax dollars. ITs like the state depends on it. I bet Montana could care less.

I was under the impression that this bill has existed in Colorado for the last 15 years or something. Not just Colorado, but 13 other states as well. Am I getting this bill confused with another one?

I also feel like once federal funding is threatened, then people will balk and roll over and show their bellies.

Are you saying CO would cave or all the states that seek similar laws? I'd think Montana could give two shits. WY,and ID for sure.

Irving

I'm saying I think Colorado would cave. I think that it is going to come down to the Feds wanting to pull federal money from Montana, and they'll probably cave when that time comes.

Tax Ritter would just step in a veto anything related to pro gun, or any bill with the word firearm in it unless it was to ban all firearms.

Think of how long they refused to post a speed limit. That came down to highway $. And WY changed their drinking laws while I lived there. You use to be able to legally drink and drive. NOT be drunk and drive but have your after work beer on the way home. Drive up liquor stores attached to bars so you could order a mixed drink with your six pack and cruise. Oh the good ole days. The other states have long since changed their laws and bent over for the FED GOV but not those two states mentioned on those items at least. I think they will hold strong. Defiant those states are.

I don't know how the state legislature is made up, but I think both US Senators and the Governor are all Democrats, aren't they? Maybe state's rights minded, but not necessarily conservative.

Here is an update. http://www.wnd.com/index.php?pageId=107996

As I understand it, the battle will begin when the law takes effect on October 1.

I finally know what Mechelle Obama meant when she said "I finally love this country." She was talking about this law.
J/K she is a racists bitch that has made her choice to be a socialist. She won't love this country until its burried up to its neck in slaves and expecting a position above the commoners.

Have you guys herd of a similar bill here in TN? TN HB 1796? Its already law and the ATF has bullied up against anyone threatening there power. From the chatter I read here it is like the damn bill is worthless. No one will challenge it outright. I believe TN is waiting for other states to get on board for a SCOTUS hearing. Or the folks here just don't want to be the first one to go down. If its the latter I have to say I understand were they are coming from.

Tennessee did have a similar law passed. The ATF sent out a blanket letter to all FFL's reminding them that they were still accountable to federal law.

Wyoming will probably cave with Federal funding for highways since they have been doing so since 1998/1999. That was when they changed the drinking and driving law. Unfortunately I see the "stand up citizen" doing time.
