I'm working in Grand Island NE. For a few weeks and we got blown out today so I decided to go over and check out the Hornady plant. I walked in and the ladies at the front desk immediately asked if I would like a tour. I said sure and a buddy and my self where shown around. That place is awesome. Every loaded round that leaves that place is hand inspected and packaged. YES, every single round hand inspected. All their critical duty ammo and dangerous game ammo is hand loaded. The people that work there are by far some of the nicest people. Guys on the floor would stop what they where doing to show you what they where working on and how things happened. I was hoping to pick up some bullets while I was there but they only sell seconds in house. Their selection was limited but I picked up a box of .416 cal 400 gr. DGX 50 ct. For only $22. They where seconds because that lot didn't meet their accuracy spec. of 3 shot group at 100yards measuring 6/10th of an inch. This lot measured .926 3 shot groups at 100 yards. They did tell me of a shop in town that they supply directly to, so I swung by there and bought 500 55gr. V-max, and some 140 gr. a-max for my 6.5. That shop had more bullets on the shelf than all cabelas, basspro, and sportsmans in Denver. Long story short, the people at Hornady were awesome and the plant was very cool to see.

Nice. I wish I had time to check out cool places when I'm out if town for work. The closest I'll come to doing something like that is stopping off at Cabelas in Kaerney on my way home.

Which plant had the explosion and fire last week?

I normally don't have time either, but due to high winds and the oncoming rain we got shut down for the day. I'll be stoping at cabelas on the way home too. And probably swing back by this local shop to grab a few more boxes of 55 grainers for the .223.

A news release from parent company Maxam said Rio Ammunition produces shotgun cartridges, and the blast occurred during the company's cartridge loading operations. The release says Rio Ammunition has begun its own internal query and is cooperating with the law enforcement investigation.

We switched out plans. Was supposed to work outside swapping a turbo by worked indoors instead. Will do the turbo tomorrow assuming the crane company can do their thing in the winds. Supposed to be pretty windy tomorrow.

When I first read the title, I was hoping you had discovered a plant that grows Hornady bullets. :)

That's pretty neato how nice they were and interesting that they hand load all the CD and DG hunting ammo.

Thats exactly what they do here. They smelt their own lead and the copper jackets are punched from sheets of cooper. The bullets are all swagged and pressed right there.

How was pricing? Wonder if the would ship? I have been looking for a particular Critic defense, and can't find it.

I still don't think we're on the same page. I was thinking some thing like this:

but with bullets instead of money.
