I did something stupid this weekend, and the end result was surprising. I just bought a Sig p229 Scorpion in 40 S&W. Since the day I turned 21 I wanted this firearm but things never worked out until a few weeks ago. I decided to go hiking and wanted to take the new Sig instead of my G26. I have a Raven Concealment p226 holster made for the Combat/MK25 version. My P229 fit perfect, had retention, so I threw it on my belt. I had no issues all the way up. Once I got to the top of the trail, i wandered off trail to get some pictures of the surroundings. I stopped at the edge of about a 50-60 foot cliff. I took my backpack off and it caught on the grip of the P229. This resulted in my pristine gun falling out and off the cliff. I was pretty upset, after a 45 min hike/climb down I picked it up and nothing... There wasnt a scratch, mark, dent, nothing. I couldn't believe it. The bottom of the cliff was all jagged rock, and hard clay.

I learned 2 things from this incident...
1. Use the proper holster
2. Buy more Sigs.

I will post pictures tonight to show you all.

Did you see it fall in slow motion like in the movies?

Reading about your sig falling off a cliff hurt my soul a little bit.

Take a pic of the gun and the cliff it fell off of, and send it off to Sig. Maybe they'll send you some free swag, maybe even a lanyard!

One more reason to Ban Firearms in parks. if it can save one woodchuck, wooden it be worth it.

And the location it fell to is obstructed by the tree branch but it fell just to the right of the blue arrow.
