View Full Version : So what now? After you get your stamps.
I'm guessing I'll be making copies of the stamped forms... Shrinking one copy to 1/4 page and laminating?

That's what I did. I keep a 1/4 size laminated copy with the NFA item at all times and have a hard copy in my safe, along with a digital copy on an SD card in a good friend's safe. Maybe I'm paranoid. [Dunno]
Also might be wise to make sure they are covered by your insurance, since they could be considered "high value personal property" or something of that sort.

I laminated the originals put them in the paperwork safe. Keep B&W copies on hand near range bag. Rinse & repeat.
You make your copy of the Form much harder to read if you shrink it. If it can't be easily read it's worthless.
Pictures stashed with your original Form is a good idea.
I prefer color copies. I watermark a document as a copy by printing "COPY" in a real light gray font on top of the color copy. They used to have copy machines that would add a watermark . Some of the computer copy programs will watermark them if you make your copies at home.
I usually make five or six copies but only laminate two or three. The plain paper copies are so I can fold them if needed.
I'm not a tee shirt guy or I would have a tee shirt made with my stamp printed on it. A foot tall image of your stamp on a tee shirt you're wearing has a special kind of Cool Factor. You might consider fuzzing out part of the serial number if you do it.
On the first Full Moon you should sit Naked in a ring of candles while lovingly fondling your new Stamp and NFA item. A little gun oil or gun powder sprinkled on the candles adds to the overall atmosphere. At the stoke of midnight do a mag dump or other appropriate action.
Most of all HAVE FUN!!!
The correct answer is get another one in the queue.
If you have a trust list it in the schedule A

You've been using gun oil. Gotta re-read that small print.

Thanks for the reminder to add it to the Schedule A inventory list.
You haven't filled out another Form 1 or 4 yet?!? It's called stamp collecting for a reason!
I've got a form 1 coming this week... A form 4 that should be in May and one going out as soon as efile is back up.. Yes I'm collecting stamps

A little late to the party, but I make a double sided color copy of my form, laminate the copy, and throw the original back in the filing cabinet. I throw the full sized copy into my range bag or behind the foam in my gun case whenever I travel. I started out making 1/4 scale copies, but I have no idea where I put the damned things, and quit long ago.
My newest thing is to scan my approved forms, print them to PDF, and save them to a USB drive on my keychain and upload them to my cloud storage and my phone, that way I can see and/or print them any time as needed, without carrying them around.

Where do you guys go to laminate your forms? Places like Staples?
I have a ton of 50% copies of all 5 NFA forms that I keep in my truck, range bag, and gun safes. Keep the originals along with even more full size copies in my little fireproof lockbox.

I've always used Kinko's (now called 'FedEx Office' I think). This one might not be too far away:

I also took a photo of the front page of each form and save on my phone "just in case." I have actually yet to hear of any lawful NFA owner even being asked to provide these but still better have them. Anyone ever been asked to produce?
