View Full Version : Sportsmans Warehouse requirement?

Have any of you seen the new purchase requirements at Sportsmans Warehouse? They now require military members to provide proof of address via bill or bank statements and provide duty address. Apparently the posted sign claims this is an ATF requirement now but I can't find any reference to it.

I thought they were nuts about a year ago when they refused to sell to an army buddy of mine from Puerto Rico telling him he wasn't a US citizen and that his orders posting him in Colorado didn't prove residence in Colorado despite ATF regulation stating otherwise. I personally barked all the way up to their corporate headquarters with them still claiming that ATF was behind that policy though my calls to ATF showed otherwise. What is the deal with these guys!

They suck and if I didn't feel bad about the employees losing their jobs I would like to see them go under. Worthless management. Corporate America should have no business in firearms!

I need to have more confirmation on this. I suppose I can go try and by a gun from them. Is this their policy only for military personnel without in state drivers license?

If a military person is a Colorado CHP holder, than HB1180, if passed, will make this a moot point.

I believe they were bought by a Canadian compay, who made the decision to close stores...

The one time I ever went there, some douche bag was telling me how awesome his duty issued XD45 worked in the 500 round fire fight he got into in Iraq with it...

So...maybe they have a lot of guys acting like posers like the shit head I talked to.

ETA ( <-- That means Edited To Add GunTroll): I'd still rather shop at Sportsman's than Gunsmoke. You can buy $800 pistols at both places. The difference is that the pistols at Sportsman's aren't used.

I had never heard of Gunsmoke until this week. Tom Martino had some guy named Rich from gunsmoke on, about a gun sale problem. He sounded like a real ass on the radio. It seems he sold a gun to a lady, then did the background check. She failed it because of a long time ago restraining order against her from her daughter. it seems it should have been taken off her record years ago and fell through the cracks. Anyway he wouldn't give her, her money back, but offered to sell the gun for her on consignment and take 20%.

So my question is, aren't the gun dealers supposed to get the all clear before they sell the gun and take the money? The 8 or so times I've bought a gun, they all did the check first, then took the money.

?? You can find handguns @ Sportsmans?? Other than the 3 Magnum Research handguns, I thought anything else was urban legend (at least down here in the Springs...since the start of the year).

For their sake, I hope Sportsmans starts getting firearms, ammo, and reloading supplies back in stock or they'll certainly be out of business by this time next year.

Based on the the first (and last) time I was in there, even if He was selling 5.56 at $20 a 1000,with a free AR with purchase, I still wouldn't buy anything from Him.

How I wish it was only Sportsmans that was having the reloading supply issue. I've been looking for some large rifle primers for the past couple months and haven't had any luck. I'm down to about 50. I won't even get into trying to find any BLC-2 or 4831sc. Of course Sportsmans looks worse than other stores on supply. Any of you ever ask them when something is coming in. That makes for a good laugh. Turns out they don't make orders tailored to the store. They just get trucks in and cross their fingers!!

Thanks I was lost and had to read that a few times. I allways thought ETA was estimated time arrival. Damn I'm lost in the sauce!
