They bid what they want to pay to enable them to sell at a profit.
So they don't give you a true appraisal.

If you want an appraisal pm Bert, the service is not free understandably.

Gunchoker, guns america will give you an idea what CMV is. Appraisal for ins purposes get it done locally.
Ok its a
Marlin 1893
Serial number 378xxx which is hard to date but somewhere around 1907-08.
30-30 Octagon barrel takedown model
wood in ok shape with dings but no deep scratches.
metal good shape with good rifling
I have shot the gun and all functions great
I'm thinking octagon barrel and takedown are a plus, Frontier Galleries on So Broadway can give you a good idea of it's value, if you haven't been there, check it out.
DONT forget the Colorado gun collectors show on May 17-18 at the Mart. You will get estimates from several big time Marlin collectors and other vendors, probably a few offers. Not that big of a deal to bring a gun in, crowded in the middle of the day, HUGE (tanner x 2) and it's the best traveling gun 'museum' around here.
It's a pain to go, parking sucks, you walk for hours bumping into people but I have never regretted going, always see something new (old).
