I assume the rant on the trading post got out of hand after I went to bed.... But it got me thinking

I have listed many items here lately. My reasons are in a few of the adds I've posted, but to reiterate. My wife and I moved from Denver a few years ago to follow our dream of getting the hell out of the city and building a house. We are now very close to completing our home, but are a little short on funds. I am liquidating some of my items to raise cash to get this done and move out of the SHITTY trailer we have been living in. There are few folks with cash around here, so I have sought every avenue possible to get stuff sold. In the next few weeks, I will probably be taking my firearms down to the big city for consignment. I know I will lose 15-20% of my list price when I consign so I have a few questions for you all. Please keep the discussion to these questions and keep them civil.

1- Are my prices out of line? Don't need specific price, but too high, low, just right? I want to make sure my prices are set fairly when I put them on consignment.

2- I assume if not my prices, is my location and the interstate issue holding me back? This is why I'm thinking of listing things down in the big ol city.

3- Or is everyone just as broke as I am right now? How can that be, Aren't we in a recovery?[Sarcasm2]

1- no

2 - local for some items especially the truck is better.

3 - yes. The only recovery i am aware of is happening at AA & NA.

1. Keep it high as it only takes one buyer to make a deal. Who cares about the 99 other bitching tire kickers. (Buy low though!!)
2. I personally assume that location will not affect on well sought items - although it may discourage impulse buyers.
3. Whether we are in recession or recovery, as long as you plan ahead, it wont make any difference.

1. Your prices are fine
2. Shipping and ffl fees ad to the costs but it shouldn't effect a serious buyer on a good price.
3. Broke and dont like the new laws. My fun budget is all going to home depot.

I really wanted that spr upper you had a while back. Must be good.

Thanks for the replies and PM's. Kinda what I figured, just wanted confirmation. Don't know when I'll get down to the city, but will keep stuff up here until then. (along with the other places these are listed.) Ya'll been good to me over the years. Thanks.

Hint

My prices are OBO, and I'd rather forum members get my babies than some stranger off the street.

Your prices are fine, I just don't want to deal with the distance or shipping.

What "big city" are you referring to? You really in Raton? I know that's a pretty good jaunt from Denver.

If the "big city" is Albuquerque, it's exactly three and a half (3 1/2) hours from Raton driving the speed limit - 75. Of course damn few NM drivers really observe the posted speed limit on I 25... I make that drive between two and four times monthly.
