View Full Version : Is this a good deal?
I'm thinking about purchasing this Mosin, but wanted to check in here to see what the community thought on the price/value.

I don't know much about these, but I really like them...just don't want to overpay.

Man that seems a bit high. Even for a originally scoped Nagant. Maybe its worth the premium if your collector, but if you read through the wording they said that there is a chance that its refurbished rifle. "However - Many are Arsenal Re-Furbished"
I was thinking it was a bit high as well, but definitely thought about it as a collection starter. Every other gun I own is a shooter. I would shoot this as well, but not as much.

If it has strike thru on serial number no, if as original, still no. IMO, $200 high if original and $400 high if arsenal rebuild.

Many of these were decommissioned as sniper rifles, imported and rescoped here in the US.

Great rifles, everybody should have a Mosin. If you are nostalgic collector then look for original, if shooting collector, get an excellent condition action and barrel and customize it to your liking, sporter, tactical, hunting, can go many ways. Just don't pay $700 unless truly unique.

Start with a garand, or matching # mauser. Not $700 for a refurb. I'm sure a few board members would be more than happy to sell you one of theirs for that price AND include some ammo.

I have seen them at Cabelas with the scope for cheaper, i think it was $250. If you want a collector get a Mauser, Springfield or Enfield.

If you want a collection starter, start with Garand or M-1 Carbine from the CMP.

A few weeks ago I picked up a 1943 all matching 91/30 for $120 with all the kit. It is late war build and shows the rough machining and finishing from that time period but is in perfect condition and I am happy to have it. This is a fair price for a Soviet 91/30 with all the kit. It was imported and has import marks but so what, it was acquired as a shooter, nor a collectible.
