Need some help troubleshooting sprinkler system

I just turned the water on to the sprinkler system today, and it isn't working right. The water sounds like it's constantly running, and all the sprinkler heads in every zone are leaking a little bit. I turned on the controller and tried to manually advance through the zones, but nothing changes. Any ideas?

Check your manifold for a leak.

Make sure water valve in the house is all the way on so you get good pressure.

make sure all your valves are closing or are closed. Go to your box or boxes and check and listen to each one. You can manually close all of them and manually open them as well at the valve box. You don't need to turn them on at your panel. Just go to the box and turn each valve on manually. This should turn that section on and then you verify your sprinklers for that section are working.

once you verify they are each working, closing all of them and see which one or ones are leaking. If you get none of them to turn on you may have a major leak before your box. Hopefully it is just in the valve or in a single section that is leaking

Did you blow out your system or pay someone?

Some people have a drain valve. If that is still on you won't get pressure at the zones and it will constantly run.

^ that too. Check for a drain valve and both blow out valves are fully closed.

Once your drain valves are closed (I forget to close mine every year), as you turn on each section, if the valve stays on, rap the head with the head of a screw driver and it should shut off.

Solenoids may need adjustment as well.

Forgot to follow up on this; hopefully others can benefit from the solution.

All but one valve was leaking and they were all trying to run at once. Took the valves apart and 4 out of 5 valve caps were cracked. Replaced them all and it's back to working just fine.

Lesson learned: don't be cheap. Get the system blown out before the temp drops instead of ignoring it for six years.
