Why such a verying wait time for a CCW permit by counties????

Ok so here is my question, why is there such a large flux of wait times for your permit across the state. I live in El Paso County and was told the party line of 90 days, i know that is what must people get told across the state. But why do you see people getting there license in some cases as short as 2 weeks and others taking longer then 90 days. I would think the submission process to the CBI is the same across the state so the wait time would be the same across the board. Any thought or great insight? By the way I'm on day 60 and still waiting.

Because you're not the only one in your county applying. 90 days gives them time to dick around and or get it approved within reason. My last renewal took 15 days, the spouse took 4 weeks.

And CBI doesn't do the compete background. They run the fingerprints provided and return a report to the submitting agency, who does the complete background.

I was in Utah and needed to renew my CCW so I thought I would just walk in, get a picture and pay. I did this on Tuesday the 22nd and my new CCW was at my house in CO via US mail in 7 business days. A day or two to process, a day to make the permit, a day to send it through to the post office and few days to get to CO. Some lefty states are just F'n with us I guess.

It all depends on their mood that week. They have to by law have it back to you in 90 days. Some counties rant processing as many apps as others so they get better turn around. A buddy and myself turned ours in within a week of each other, I did mine in Adams and my buddy did his in Park county. Adams called me on day 89 and said it was done, my buddy got his back in two weeks. And this was 6 years ago, so well ahead of the surge that you see now.

No all counties are pro-CCW. The ones that aren't usually take 89 days exactly because they can.
