My 929 showed up Monday. And my order of 40 Hearthco moonclips showed up as well. timing is everything.

The DA trigger pull was the absolute worst I have ever felt. Ever. The SA was typical and very nice.

Accuracy wise I am very happy. My standard PPC load of 115 JHP Sierras put 8 shots in 1.5 inches at 25 yards off sandbags.

I am hoping I can find a nice soft load with zero 124s or 147s. My old 627 was a really soft and very accurate with Montana Gold 142s.

They cerakoated the Ti cylinder to match the stainless frame/barrel. I didnt mind the dark grey color of the cylinder.

I will post up some pics when I get time.

Sweet!
Fortunately, those S&W triggers are easy to work over.
Wish they would bring back the 940 - 9mm J-frame Centennial - I need another since my wife carries "mine."

For a moment there I thought you were selling it... Looking forward to checking out the photos.

Already down below 5 lbs DA.

Actually... I did it the easy way. Yanked the barrel and cylinder off my high mileage 627 and replaced them with 929 guts. Had to adjust the endshake and set the cylinder gap and some other things, but an easy swap all in all.

When 929 #2 shows thats when I am going to have to put in my Apex hammer and start working it.

One month and about 2,000-3,000 rounds later.

Very happy.

I noticed that you took off the compensator. Was it friction-fitted & pinned or welded on?

It is a slip on and then held in place with a screw. It was a pretty worthless single chamber comp. The non compensated endcap was useless as well.

Looks fun. How is it you ain't got no glory hole in the side? How do you fire that single action?

I pulled the 9mm barrel, crane and cylinder off the 929 frame and stuck them in a 627 (38 Special) frame. As soon as I get the trigger job done on the 627 (the frame says 929) it will be on the chopping block. I have no desire to own a lock gun.

Single action? Why the hell would I do that when double action is easier? In fact, I cut the SA notch off the hammer so it isnt even a option in any way, shape or form. Shooting a Double Action revo Single Action is for people who squat to pee.

Only brought it up because you mentioned DA sucked but SA was smooth. Can't remember the last time I manually cocked the hammer on one of my Smiths. I do have several single action revolvers...

Well after about 12,000 rounds it is still running like a champ. Very happy with it.

I am shooting Extreme 165s and Titegroup. It is a little dirty, but very soft shooting. The Montana Gold 142s are really accurate, but I try to avoid shooting anything made by them.

929 number two is here as are the all the Apex Tactical parts (and a pre-lock donor frame) that I am going to need to do a trigger job.

I really should clean it up a little, but pretty guns are for sissies.
