Tried searching but didn't see anything so apologies if this is a repost:

http://www.military.com/video/operations-and-strategy/vietnam-war/vietnam-memorial-on-remote-trail/2805626482001/

This video was taken by some dirt bike riders along the continental divide, who stumble upon a Vietnam memorial in the woods.

As usual the government is non committal ....evidently hunters and possibly some vets must be aware of it as there are numerous 7.62x51 and 30.06 rounds and coins on the ledges between the stones. Park rangers apparently work to keep it off maps.

If you had anything to do with this, [Beer]

Thank you for the post. Should never be posted on a map and should be left as a "word of mouth" memorial with the humble solitude presumably intended.

There is a link that shows the location in the OPs link.

I think I just found my first expedition with the LC.

It really is not some sort of government cover up and it is on the USFS land use map. Many people in the area know about it, it was a grass roots effort and there is a story with it that i can not remember but i am sure if you ever find your self in the town of Sargents, go into the dinner or general store and they will tell you about it. It is a beautiful memorial with a beautiful view and if you dirt bike some great trails that lead up to it. Tmleadr you may want to go up there in the fall so you can see the liberty bell the aspen trees make near by.

Wow, that's pretty awesome. Somebody put a lot of work and expense into that.

It's on top of Sargents Mesa, about 20 miles west of Saguache. Good dirt road all the way to the top. I hunted elk there for many years. There's a column in the center of a circle of small monuments, and on top of the column is a small 60mm mortar. I never had a camera with me to take pictures. Wish I had.

I found a similar memorial in the woods near Fort Devens on the east coast. It was for a 17 year old that was killed in action about 3 months into his first tour. Heart breaking to read and the secluded location made it even more moving.

I just bought a Jeep Wrangler. If you want some company on the trip let me know. Maybe we can make it a COAR-15 expedition.

Kind of went a little blurry watching that.

If it is in CO I would like to go there and leave a token of my respect.

God Bless them all.
