Sorry man. That sucks.
The feeling an OD death leaves with the people who survive it is pretty crappy. Well, any out of the blue death I suppose.
Sorry to hear it. Losing people so needlessly seems to hurt a little more than seems fair.

It seemed really preventable but his family just enabled it I hadn't seen him in like 5 years but would here crazier and crazier stories 4 years ago he was doing great graduated collage and was running the family dry cleaners it's crazy how fast someone can throw there life away

Addiction is a fucked up deal. It is stupid, and it grabs good people.
Sad.

Definitely sorry to hear that. Got a friend who runs a rehab in Denver and there are no shortage of sad stories like this.
Hope his family will be okay.

Condolences to you and your brother. Two friends of mine from high school died of heroine overdoses. It definitely sucks.

Condolences. Sadly, addictions to heroine are becoming more and more common these days. Seems H is on the rise in popularity again.
I feel your pain... I lost a good friend about a year ago to an OD. I completely agree, the feeling of anger and moreso the feeling that it could have been prevented is the worst.

My dad never threatened me with violence (beyond much-needed spankings when I did stupid stuff that I forgot all about 10min later) so it really stuck with me when he calmly told me that if he ever heard of me doing drugs, he'd beat me so bad he'd go to jail. You don't want your dad to go to jail, right, son? Haven't done anything, don't really feel like I'm missing out.
Condolences to the family & friends.

Better watch it, the libs here don't take kindly to parents who beat their kids for wrong doings...The mention of what your dad would have done, may bring out the trolls from under the bridge...

My two brothers have had there share. One alternates between Heroin and God and the other between Heroin and Alcohol. It was interesting at the Funeral for my Stepfather. The one I can put up with and the other I have not seen since we had a "talk" 18 years ago after he threatened to kill the parents if they did not give him money.
The stuff is relentless and one misjudgement is the difference between alive and dead. As has been said it seems to be making a comeback. Sad all the way around.

What a shame. I'm sorry to hear that. My wife's ex is an H addict & he put her through hell on earth before she realized she couldn't help someone who didn't want it.

it's been on the rise for the last 5 years. Cocaine is now climbing the charts, again, on the way to #1 with a bullet
It's rapidly getting worse. I'd hedge a bet that somewhere in the course of everything, he got a prescription for an opiate painkiller? That's where most of these OD's originally source from. It's no longer a inner city problem, it's suburbia. And it's essentially endorsed by the FDA. Get them hooked on opiates, then heroin, being cheaper, purer, and readily available, becomes an easy transition.
Opiates were only supposed to be for end of life. Production has increased more than 15,000% since the 90's. (2 tons to over 340 tons). Now they prescribe it if you squish your finger or pull a muscle or stumble on the stairs.
I feel your pain. This problem is affecting a lot more people than it should. Good ones that never got into drugs, they got into a prescription from a doctor....
That was the original source of his addiction torn acl/mcl he got a bunch of painkillers for that then he had some doctor who would give him like 200 painkillers a month(I'm not exaggerating) I guess at some point he switched to heroin when the pills aren't strong enough
There was just a story on bbc about heroin consumption being up like 200% here in the last few years.
