The New Jersey state Assembly on Thursday sent Governor Chris Christie a gun control bill that would limit the capacity of gun ammunition magazines, but it was unclear whether the Republican governor would sign the measure into law.
Christie, widely perceived as a possible White House contender in 2016, has a mixed record on gun control and has given no indication of his plans for the measure.
The bill, approved in the Assembly by a 44-34 vote, would cut the maximum capacity of gun magazines to 10 from 15.

Ok... Not agreeing with even the 15 round limit but it is not a 'cut' when you INCREASE the number of rounds from 10 to 15. It's basic math people.. Apparently NJ is struggling on even this level........ Which on second thought might explain a lot.

Why is this surprising to anyone? The big surprise will come when Christie doesn't sign it.

^^^This.

I will be surprised if he does not sign it. I would venture to guess he will sign it late today, on the eve of 3 day holiday, to try and hide and loose the news of it in the long weekend news cycle.

I'm certain Krispie Kream wants to sign it. Who knows what he'll do though, he's just a RINO playing the political game and trying to appeal to the Republican base now. I'm sure he has no positive inner convictions about gun ownership.

It will be an interesting clue to Christie's presidential plans for 2016. He signs, his campaign is dead out of the gates in any state west of Jersey.

Me too. I feel for those that are stuck there. I don't think Christie will sign it.

+1. Hopefully he doesn't sign it, and if he doesn't it's still no indicator of what's to come. Too many RINOs just itching to sell you down the river.

...and he could still be the R candidate. They seem to be set before anyone west of the Mississippi gets to participate.

Sent from my electronic leash.

Primaries and caucuses for the 2016 presidential election (for both parties) are held starting in Jan of 2016. Several states west of the Mississippi have early primary/caucus dates. Many states don't even have dates yet (like Colorado). And, there are some pretty important states west of the MS like TX and CA that go a long way towards determining the candidate. The primaries/caucuses would be pretty hard for the "establishment" to control or rig if that's what you're getting at.

You mean like us having such great candidates as John McCain, and Mitt Romney?

I'm not a Romney fan but he actually was a great candidate for the economic situation we were in. He was too damned gentlemanly to fight a Chicago politician so he didn't pound away at the Benghazi issue like he could and should have and he didn't slam Obama's complete and utter lack of any economic understanding like he should have.

McCain was a throwaway candidate IMO -- no Republican was going to win in 2008 with the economy in the shape it was and the press blaming everything on Bush instead of the Community Reinvestment Act and the Democrat-led extortion of banks to make bad loans. McCain's candidacy let the GOP say they still had someone running without making any of their better prospects "losers". I still think McCain should have responded more strongly to all the hit pieces on Palin by saying his VP candidate was more qualified and intelligent than the Dem's Presidential candidate ...

Well, that's who the voters chose. And I think Romney would've been a great president, especially given the economic situation at the time. I put McCain in the same league as Kerry.

"no law abiding citizen needs 15 round magazines"

-nor does any law abiding citizen 'need' half the things we have a right to own.

Sadly, if the Democrats were to have a majority in both the house and the senate, I could very easily see the 10rd limit going national. I don't like that scenario in the slightest, but it would not surprise me in the least.

That was my point. Open primaries in the eastern US tend to set the ticket. We get candidates that aren't electable at a national level. Hell, they can't even get solid support from the conservative base.

Christie doesn't dare sign it, it would be such a loss for him. I sure hope he does sign it, though. Something needs to piss off the people in NJ (and elsewhere in the country) that enough is enough when it comes to encroachments on liberty.

Someone point out to the idiot dems pushing this that the dips*** in santa barbara managed to kill plenty of people with assumedly 10rd mags (hint: he stabbed and ran over them, so it's not just about guns and magical, arbitrary magazine capacity limits!)

If I recall correctly, it is a felony in New Jersey to own a handgun without a NJ pistol permit, as well as a felony to own hollowpoint ammunition. He'll probably sign it.

...but doing the right thing by dealing with actual criminals is HARD. The criminals don't follow the laws the politicians make, so it's easier to go after the sheep. [sheepshagger]

Your not even allowed to pick up a gun at a store unless you show your firearms owner card(probably not the right term for it)

Every time we bought ammo our ids were checked and logged into a book
