What an ASS-HAT! [Hang]

DENVER (AP) - Colorado Gov. Bill Ritter has vetoed a bill that would have made it easier to get gun background checks

In a letter to lawmakers on Friday, Ritter said the bill had inadequate safeguards to prevent people who have had their handgun permits revoked.
He says there also was no way to notified law enforcementhttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/mag-glass_10x10.gif (http://www.co-ar15.com/forums/#) that a person has a valid handgun permit because the state is barred from keeping a list of permit holders

The bigger part of Tax Ritter's idea is that the bill was going to make it easier on CCW's ... why in the fuck would he want to do that?

Yep, sure saw that coming.

It seems to me to be a control thing. He would never give up control to keep a back door registration of gun owners via the CBI Instacheck and he sure doesn't want to make it easier to get guns that could be used to defend yourself from threats out of anyones control.

I didn't vote for him.

Not surprising at all.

Still a little disappointing, with my Texas CHL I could bypass the background checks there.

I'm not surprised by Gov Tax Ritters actions either. Given the current change in flow in public opinion towards firearms (based on national polls), this may have cost Ritter his re-election come the next go around.

Same fart knockers who voted for the current POTUS (not me for either). I am upset he didn't sign this, but had doubts he would.

Well let me say this before you all get to pissed off maybe you should learn the law. I am not defending Ritter he is a POS but most of you don't seem to know any more than he does.

Under Federal Law the only way your CCW can exempt you from a background check is IF it is issued by the state. CO CCW's are issued by a county sheriff so therefore they do not meet federal regulations to exempt you from a background check.

Even if Ritter signed it, It would mean nothing.

Fair enough, but is that the stated reason Ritter gave to vetoing it? Or is he against it in principle - ie, even if the CCW was issued by the state, he would have vetoed it?

You had to fill out a 4473 either way. All it did for you was keep you from waiting around for the CBI to get off their ass.

sure it is issued by your sheriff after the State does the check....then it is considered State Wide....
