Beck is a bit of a loon (his rant about weird chemical imbalances causing him to be in a "fog" is pretty entertaining), but I'm glad that someone in the MSM is willing to step up and put this non-sense on blast.

I can hear the bleeding hearts without a Y chromosome now, 'He's not sensitive to women's issues. He's just another right wing, chauvinistic, cis pig that thinks we shouldn't be taken seriously.'

I'm torn on Glenn in the wake of the UCSB incident... first he makes a lot of sense with this, and I agree, hashtag activism and diplomacy are just stupid. But, he did say the other day that we need to have a conversation in light of the UCSB killings, and that is about video games. No, Glenn, video games are not to blame here, otherwise you would have millions of America's youth out and about rampaging GTA style if video games really have that much of an effect on kids. No it's the fault of the parents, the schools, the society and most of all, the individual that either couldn't on their own, or with help, cope with their situations in life.

In response to #yesallwomen, I say #notallmen [are like that].

Let me start with I was a GB devotee for a long time but of late his path and changed and I find myself not listening as much.

There is longstanding trend of the connection of video games and violence in the mass shootings, combined with underlying mental issues. Doesn't mean all who play are prone to violence but it does point in tnay direction. There is a disconnect of reality. He spoke once at length with the author of "On Killing" and "On Combat" (cannot recall name) about how the military has to do the same thing to train solidiers but conditioning them it's a target, not a person. It's a condition/response mentality that some people who indulge in games fall pray to.

He he also brought up a good point about this kid. He was a kid who was given everything in life, cars, money, clothes, sunglasses but the one thing no one gave him was love. His parents couldn't buy him a GF and as a result
of everyone gets a trophy society we will see more kids snap when they don't get their way.

Now ow back to Beck, way to preachy anymore. He's lost his way and I can tell you within his core group of supporters, a lot
of respect.

That stupid kid, all of that money he could have got a hooker or paid an escort to give him the GF-experience.

The author was Lt.Col Dave Grossman. He argued in OK that video games and the military both train to shoot humanish targets, but that the military comes with discipline, control, and morality that the video games do not; ergo the video games are bad and create mindless killers. I *think* he used columbine shooters as an example, how those kids played a bunch of doom/quake. I think his argument went right out the window when games like CoD and MoH and Battlefield hit the scene well after columbine, and instead of shooting pixel-sprites of zombies and cacodemons, players shoot at actual "human beings". Yet there was not blood all over the streets, and when shootings did occur, there was no direct connection with violent video games whatsoever.

Beck was lost to me when I heard about his shilling for Gold coins and rumors of kickbacks.

I both agree and disagree here, I think that when you take a kid that's been spoiled beyond belief, but not parented, and combine that with the video games, movies, pop culture, and the self centered everybody always wins upbringing, Then throw in a mental instability for good measure, you get a monster. It's not a single piece of the puzzle that normally creates these things, and it doesn't always contain them all.

Essentially I don't blame the video games or any other single element, but when you start mixing the cocktail together, you get a volatile combination.

As to the #yesallwomen thing, They are all as dumb as the idiots that think gun laws would have stopped this lunatic. This guy was a stark raving nut-job and because he appeared to have a twig and berries, all of a sudden men are all out to kill women indiscriminately when they don't get some ass?? Are you fucking kidding me?

If video games are the cause of violence, I am in some serious trouble after playing World of Tanks!

Wait.. I play video games.. with a bunch of other guys.. and we all have lots of guns.. So.. should we schedule our mental break at the same time? It could be epic.

hashtag NoMeansYes? (Wouldn't fair well as a celebrity)

I've read most of the manifesto and have a lot of experience with socio's and psychology. I'll do a write up here soon that will offer some insight.
The problem here isn't poon or love for that matter. The kid also didn't get handed everything, his father was well off, his mother wasn't terribly, but he conned them out of money that was supposedly for school etc. I've seen people in "poor" families do the same with the same success. He was certainly better off than the rest of us. Note that I do not justify or explain his actions. I want people to be better at recognizing this class of individual before any issues like this arise. If I had my way, socios would be sent to a leaper colony upon diagnosis. It is literally incurable.

I'll post a long blog or something within a few days. A lot I need to cover.

I'll be very interested to read your thoughts, thanks.
