Not aware of the mans politics but he is spot on here

Damn good on him. Too many Hollywood elites just keep quiet to protect their boy and pretend it never happened. Good for him.
He is spot on. The last two administrations have done more to tear down the VA than can be comprehended with the full backing and approval of Congress until there is a news story. Then it becomes this big political parade for both sides. Bush was raked over the coals for electrocuted vets and Walter Reid now Obama is getting his share for more of the same. The Dems made all kinds of hay while they could and now the Republicans are taking their turn..... Whats missing? Taking care of the vets. Forcing money on the Military for programs they say they don't want or need and in the same breath saying they don't have money for those that served. This is not a political divide issue as Montel brought out. This is a chance for us all to point the finger where it belongs.... The White House and Congress... Regardless of, which side you are on. Montel is generally considered to be on the Left but that has no bearing on where or why he came out like this. Simply put he is spot on and trying to do/state what is right.

I go to the local VA clinic needing antibiotics and they blow me off! 1 hour and 50 miles later I get the medication I need from the US Army! Then another 50 mile drive back home. Yeah, something is definitely wrong with the Department of Veterans Affairs. It doesn't help to complain as then you will never get any help from them. The real big problem, is the chickenshit in the Oval Office...has Obama awarded himself the Medal of Honor yet?

Always liked Montel, seems like a no BS straight shooter.
He definitely got the 10 ring on this one...

Even a blind squirrel finds a nut every once in a while. He's not a total loon like some celebrities but he sure isn't a conservative hero. He does earn some points for serving as a Navy officer? But here are a few excerpts from a TIME interview:
Since you brought up politics, you've said you didn't support Barack Obama at the beginning of his presidency, but that you do now. Why?
I've been a staunch Republican. I did 22 years in the military and I had a hard time thinking about a commander-in-chief who has no knowledge of the military. But I wasn't as aware of the genius in the man we have as our president. Across the board, hands down. And supported by a genius wife! That's the reason he's getting such rebuke from the right. There are a bunch of stupid people that are jealous of the intelligence the man has.
I'd certainly have to question his claim of being a "staunch republican" after making a statement like this.
You said recently that you own 11 to 14 guns. What do you think about the recent spate of mass killings and gun violence?
The Second Amendment gives us the right to own guns. But I'm a pet owner and my dog Max has a [micro]chip in him. If I lose Max, I'm gonna find him. They can just hit it with the satellite. Pow! Find Max! If you want to put a little chip in my gun so you know where it is all the time, please do.
Seriously? He thinks the gov should have the authority to track personally owned firearms with a micro-chip? Again...makes me question his claim of being a "staunch republican".

Bailey- that's from 2009... I really hope his mind on both issues has changed, otherwise his screaming about the VA scandal loses a bit of wind in the sails (IMO).
I will say this- I've been very fortunate, I haven't received that bad of treatment from the VA. Maybe it's a regional issue? I go to the Golden clinic (which used to be in Lakewood) and usually when I have a problem it gets fixed, a couple times I had to wait a week longer than I think I should have, but they told me if it's serious enough I can get seen fast. I have not seen first hand how bad the VA can be, however, I have friends on the East Coast who have a lot more problems than I, such as chronic back pain from an IED blast, that complain the VA where they are sucks. You can blame Bush all you want, but Obama gets a larger chunk because he didn't fix it like he said, and he is lying about it now.

It's easy to find more recent, far left comments that MW has made that expose his liberalism...all you have to do is look. I applaud his comments on the current VA situation, don't get me wrong, but I'm having a hard time finding any other subject on which I agree with him.

I concur... His speech outside the VA Clinic the other day was fantastic... but like you said, that's about the only thing he and I agree on. At least maybe he's waking up to Obama's bullshit?

I have to agree. Even a broken clock is right twice a day.
