View Full Version : ZEV Tech Fulcrum Ultimate Kit on a Glock20

So I have a glock 20 (10mm) and I decided to buy and install a fulcrum ultimate kit in. The install was easy as cake, 10 minutes tops. And now the trigger is smooth and about 3.5lb trigger pull. There are some issues with it though. Sometimes, when you take the slide off, it doesn't want to go back on. Won't rack all the way back and lock in place. If I fudge with the safety plunger and firing pin a little, the slide will slide back on and function like normal. Then the second issue I noticed right away is if I depress the trigger and pull the slide back a couple of inches to reset, I notice that the slide wont go into full battery until let a little slack on the trigger. Now if I pull the slide all the way back and allow it to slam forward then it has no problem going into full battery. Other then these two issues, I really like the trigger but I carry this gun with me on hunting trips and it's my go to gun if ever I need to shoot more then 3 rounds from my rifle. I spoke with a ZEV Tech Rep about the part that's not going into full battery and he said this was normal. Confused???? I'm a little worried it might fail in the field, costing my life. Tell me what you guys would do? Would you attempt to keep it or ask for a full refund? I have not shot the gun with this trigger kit in place yet.

I carry a Glock daily and anything other than perfect operation is bad juju. Sounds like time to visit your friendly neighborhood gun smith (aka Bert at BP Tactical).

Umm. Put the stock parts back in it.

Stuff like that is perfectly acceptable on a competition gun but if it's a gun you are counting on to save your life leave it alone.

This ^^^

Is there a reason you needed to swap out triggers? Was the factory unit that bad?

If you need to depend on more than 3 rounds, why have the aftermarket parts not been returned to the mfg ? A little time doing some light polishing produces a nice trigger.

The factory isn't the best trigger but not bad. I just wanted a more crisp trigger with less travel/reset.

"Best" is relative and subjective. 100% reliable is a requisite.

Well i called them today. I guess they are aware of these issues with the 10mm. They just gave me an return authorization immediately after talking to one of their techs.

I use the ghost rocket 3.5 and love it. In fact, I love it so much that I need a new mainspring soon.

Which spring inside that Glock are you referring to as a mainspring?

I'm a big fan of Zev's products. My G20 is a gen 3 (suppose to be the most reliable) and also a new gun. I believe I have only 20 rounds through it before I installed the Fulcrum trigger but as my go to gun in the forest, these little niches worry me. I'm sure it would've worked flawlessly as a competition gun but as my life saver; no, I'm not going to risk it. It has to function 100% in every category, no exceptions especially when I'm in the field.

10/4 I do understand, you have to do what make you feel safe. The last thing you do not want is it not to work when you need it.

Maybe I have my terms wrong, but I'm talking about the main recoil spring. It seems to be wearing out. I stopped counting rounds at 5k last year. Recently I've had a few FTEs and I think the spring is to blame.

Gotcha. As far as your FTE's go, let us know if a new recoil spring fixes it.

-thread hijack... Sry.

You may want to check your extractor. When very dirty you can get enough carbon buildup in the notch that it will no longer grasp the lip of the brass fully. I usually dental pick mine every 5k. As for spring strength, I have run springs that are worn to the point that they no longer hold the slide closed when slightly pulled back. I noticed no malfunction for the 1-2k after noting. Danger there is firing out of battery. Though I have had it happen with no bad repercussions it is something to watch for.

Your gun is firing out of battery and you aren't replacing the spring? You have more balls and tougher hands than me.

Spring is replaced now- had to wait it out for the next glock days for replacement. It only takes a mm or 2 of slide movement for the barrel to drop slightly- perhaps not the extreme you imagined when reading out of battery. No blowing magazine out or shattering the frame. Noticed only after running last stage of the day and seeing that slide hadn't fully seated. After I went to check, knocked it closed, fired again thinking debris- same issue- issue gone after cleaning and new internals

North side?

I absolutely LOVE Glocks! I still have, and compete with a first gen. Model 22. 40 S&W. My only mods were the chrome Glock trigger in 3.5lb, XS sights and holographic red dot. My next mod will be the new drop free mags in 15 rnd. Only other hand gun I own is an HK USP.
