I Need Some Good Thoughts Please.

It has been a bitch of a month and to top it all off I just found out that I need to go in for a couple different full body scans on Monday to see if I have lymphoma. Please send some good thoughts out for me.

Update 8/4: Life has been throwing a lot of punches lately. I finally got in to see a doctor with my new insurance today. He managed to get me an appointment today with a head and neck surgeon even though she was scheduled out for 3 months.

I had a chest x-ray, some blood tests and a needle biopsy done. She stuck a camera up my nose and down my throat. It showed that I have a slightly deviated septum, have a lot of scaring from when my tonsils and adenoids were removed when I was 4 and have somehow broken the hyoid bone in my throat at some point in my life. Other than that everything was good there.

We scheduled CT scans and tentatively scheduled a surgery to remove a lymph node for further testing if needed. It feels good to finally be doing something.

Update 8/6: CT scan showed exactly what we already knew - swollen lymph nodes. The needle biopsy didn't show anything so I get to go in for surgery on Monday to remove a node for further testing.

Update 8/12: The surgery went well and we will hopefully have results back later this week. Haven't had to take any pain pills yet. Get to take a few days off of work. Thanks to those who sent pms. It truly means a lot.

Update 8/18: Called with results this morning. B cell lymphoma. Time to see an oncologist.

My wife and I have gone through several bad years dealing with issues my son had/has and then her going through cancer................. Twice!!! The key is staying positive. If you let it get you down, you stay there. Stay tough and even on those days you want to say "why me", don't. It can ALWAYS be worse than where you are at if you let it. Realize where you are at is as far as you are going to let it get. It is amazing how much what you believe has to do with reality. It sounds like a bunch of complete BS until living through it you start to understand that is exactly what kept you going to this point. Good luck and stay tough.

Today's update is .... The scans have been pushed off until next Monday. Last week I had the flu or a really bad cold and have not totally recovered from it yet. They want me as healthy as I can be before doing the scans.

So, this crap isn't messing with me for the time being which means the chemo therapy has been put off at least until January unless something changes. Hopefully things will still look good in January and I will not need the chemo. If that is the case, we may look into starting stem cell therapy.

The good news for now is that things are going well and may continue to do so.

Big Wall. Prayers are being said for you by many folks. One of the most beneficial things for you is for YOU to have a positive attitude. I hope too that you will not have to go through chemo but if you do, you will do just fine. I had chemo, one big shot per month for five months. If me being kind of a "candy ass" can tolerate them, you certainly can.. My brush with the "Big C" took place thirty three years ago next month and I am still here doing very well. Do keep us posted!!!
