The pair ran to the Walmart and killed ashopper at the store's entrance, authorities said. Although a policerepresentative had said that victim was female, a spokeswoman for the ClarkCounty coroner's office identified the dead person Monday as Joseph Wilcox.
Wilcox "died attempting toprotect others," Gillespie said.

Wilcox was armed with a concealed weapon and "heroically" tried toconfront Jerad Miller after he fired his gun near the entrance, McMahill said.Wilcox passed Amanda Miller, apparently not noticing her, and Amanda Millershot him, McMahill said.

BREAKING: CONFIRMED Concealed Carrier Did Engage Las Vegas Shooters – Police Call Him “A Hero”http://gunssavelives.net/blog/breaking-confirmed-concealed-carrier-did-engage-las-vegas-shooter-police-call-him-a-hero/

After the shooting, the couple headed toward a nearby Wal-Mart,where Jerad Miller was confronted by Joseph Robert Wilcox, 31, of Las Vegas.Wilcox was legally carrying a concealed pistol. Wilcox was unaware that AmandaMiller, who was pushing a shopping cart, was involved in the incident and“lying in wait,” the official said.
She slipped behind Wilcox and shot him at close range.
“He had no idea the wife was walking behind him,” the policeofficial said of the murdered man. “This guy (Wilcox) was not some idiot with agun. To me, he was a hero. He was trying to stop an active shooter.”

Sad. This is a bad event for the gun community. Already heard something about a Gladsen flag this morning. Anyone know how soon after being engaged (with the ccw holder) the couple checked out?

It could t have been too long since no others were injured. And I'm pissed that they used a Gadsen and brought up that revolution bullshit

RIP to the cops and the CCW holder.

This is a strong reminder why carrying isn't always meant to "save the day". I can't say I would or wouldn't have acted any different but it's an eye opener. Reiterates the point of me carrying a firearm is to protect myself and my loved ones. The rest of the population are on their own.

Keep in mind that these two nutters were asked to leave the Bundy Ranch protest ... so while the leftist media is going to try to hang their actions on the Tea Party, they were actually run off by the Tea Party (in the same way that Timothy McVey was run off by the militia movement).

At any rate there is in important lesson here for all of us that carry ... when the shit goes down, keep your head on a swivel and watch your six.

Prayers for Wilcoxm, Soldo and Beck and their families.

...aaand Harry Reid does the Cha-Cha in the blood of the fallen...

On June 9, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) said the Senate needs to pass expanded background checks in light of the June 8 Las Vegas shooting, although the facts are still out on how or when the attackers acquired their guns.Expanded background checks failed to pass in April 2013.
According to Politico (http://www.politico.com/story/2014/06/harry-reid-background-checks-gun-control-las-vegas-nevada-107611.html), Reid has now gone from promising to bring the bill back up "when it has the votes to pass" to "strongly advocating that the Senate revisit the background checks legislation" now.
"We in Congress, we need to put in place legislation that helps prevent these deranged, these weird, these savage people who carry out such savage acts of violence," Reid said. "Background checks so that people who are criminals, who are deranged can't buy a gun." He did not say anything about the more sensible solution of getting deranged, weird, and savage people off our streets.
Breitbart News has reported the U.S. has had background checks in place since 1993.Breitbart News also reported (http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2014/04/03/CBS-News-Ft-Hood-Gunman-Purchased-Handgun-Legally) that Nidal Hasan (Fort Hood, November 2009), Karl Halverson Pierson (Arapahoe High School gunman), Aaron Alexis (DC Navy Yard gunman), Paul Anthony Ciancia (LAX gunman), James Holmes (Aurora theater gunman), and Ivan Lopez (Fort Hood, April 2014) all passed background checks.
Background checks in no way prevented these individuals from committing crimes.
Moreover, when Reid called for expanded background checks after the April Fort Hood attack, Breitbart News pointed out (http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2014/04/03/Reid-Ft-Hood-Shooting-Should-Revive-Gun-Control-Push) that the expanded background checks are really just the same background checks the United States has now, applied to every sale instead of just retail sales. The structure and mechanism for any other type of checks doesn't even exist.
But that does not matter, because Democrats know that if they can pass expanded background checks it will finally open the door to a federal gun registry, which has to be in place to make expanded background checks enforceable. The registry is the real goal.

They are painting them as anti-government folks.

Have to be careful nowadays what you say about government and cops... they might want to "prevent" something from happening.

Just saw the story from the leftist perspective on NBC nightly news... not a single mention about Wilcox attempting to stop them, just stating he was their victim at Walmart after killing two police officers. They made sure to state the Gadsen flag and then in the same sentence a Swastika was put on one of the slain officers. They showed the husband being interviewed at the Bundy ranch and being all anti-government. The twisted tales the media weaves... [Shake]
Prayers for the deceased officers and CCW holder and their families.

Convenient how this takes place so soon after EH and Co announce the renewed funding and commencement of the domestic terr task force.

Very sad indeed, but awesome that a citizen was armed and willing to fight. I am glad he was willing to do so and that there are people out there still willing to run to the fight to aid the police and fellow citizens.

I teach on a regular basis that I can't make the decision for anyone else to run towards the fight. Do what you think you need to do. Protect yourself first.

What is up with the "Joker" theme? Isn't that what James Holmes said to the police when he was arrested for the Aurora theater shooting? Below is a pic of the couple off of Facebook...

Regarding the worthless female turd that shot Wilcox in the back, just 2 weeks ago there was a video posted by the NRA Freedom channel's youtube Media Lab guys (made by navy seal Dom Raso) about "Multiple Attackers". Kind of an interesting series what Raso is doing: he takes popular movies and breaks down action scenes and gives his take on them regarding accuracy/feasibility. In this episode, he took a look at the movie Jack Reacher, specifically the scene where Tom Cruise's character walks out of the bar to fight those 5 guys after this girl tries to honeypot him. Anyways, Dom Raso criticized the movie because the Cruise's character basically disregarded the chick during the fight, which he felt was unwise at best.

Unfortunately for Wilcox, he was in a situation with too many variables, but he did his best and undoubtedly saved lives. A real eye-opener. RIP & thanks.

I'd be really interested to know what training Wilcox had. There was mention he had applied to a police department but was not accepted. Certainly not second-guessing his actions because I wasn't there and don't know exactly what happened...but there are lessons to be learned here.

In our classes we stress the importance of not interjecting yourself into a lethal encounter unless your life, or the life of a loved one (or someone very important to you), is in jeopardy. We also stress the fact that situational awareness is critical...you have to know what's going on and you have to identify all threats. We also constantly talk about the consequences of involving yourself in a lethal encounter...one of which is you might get hurt or killed.

It's one thing to sit in a classroom and be told these things. It's another to go out and train and practice for a situation like this. The police have confirmed Wilcox did not fire at Miller but did "confront" him...I'm assuming verbally but I don't know for sure. There could be an untold number of reasons why he didn't take a shot at Miller so I won't speculate on that. But, I've always been of the opinion that IF I'm going to confront someone with lethal force it's going to be immediate, aggressive and violent. Another lesson...tunnel vision is deadly.

We'll never know what was going through Wilcox's mind but I'm curious why he chose to confront Miller in the way he did. Everything I've heard and read was that both Miller's were probably looking for a confrontation with the police. That makes sense because they didn't harm any restaurant patrons and then told people to leave the Wal-Mart. Wilcox seemed to be singled out because he was a threat.

I'm sure he had reasons for doing what he did and his intent is commendable...it's just unfortunate that he died in the course of doing it. Of course, the same thing has happened to even the most highly trained gunfighter so sometimes that's just not the answer.

Luck, good or bad, can trump training and preparedness at any time.
