Had some family in town, decided to take them shooting, but didn't want to be crowded in the blue core range. So we headed down to the small range in the forest south of pine, just off Deckers road. A decent little range, will definitely be going back. It's small, so I'm sure its way too crowded on the weekends, but I can easily sneak out for half a day every week or two. When we got there (around 1-2pm), was just us and one other group. By the time we left at 4:30, there were 4 or 5 other groups there. I saw someone on the sticky thread mention it's short, and it's definitely too short for any real rifle work, but was great for our pistols and 22 rifle. Was pretty clean, a bunch of old brass on the ground, and some shotgun hulls and one or two pieces of trash that had been used for targets. But overall, pretty clean. And we made sure to pick up almost all our brass. I'm sure I didn't get all the 22 cases, but got all the ones that landed in our immediate area.

Family from Texas was visiting us. My father in law hadn't shot in years, but is retired army, served in Korea and Vietnam, disabled vet. He really enjoyed shooting my 1911, think we'll be getting him one of his own at some point soon. And 2 nephews (19 and 20 years old) who hadn't ever been shooting, one raised by very left-leaning parents so we were not sure if he'd even want to go. We shot thru a couple hundred rounds each of 9 and 45, and about 300 rounds of 22. Everyone had a great time and on the drive back, we had a great discussion on the 2nd amendment, right to carry, etc. I wasn't trying to convert the left-leaning one, but I think he really enjoyed getting to hear the other side of the discussion from what his parents believe. And I know he enjoyed shooting enough that he was asking me about what the laws are for buying/owning guns. Was a good day for all, and enjoyed seeing my father in law get to shoot again.

Cool! It's great to hear about families getting out to the range together. Maybe the best innoculation against the lunacy of gun control is to expose more and more of the population to shooting so they can see how enjoyable it really is.
