When and if buying factory ammo does anybody consider brand/style/factory/components for the purpose of reloading those cases later?

I do, I always buy brass so I can save for reloading.
I like to keep some Blazer aluminum on hand for indoor range time. No stress over losing any of my brass that way.

As long as it's brass cased , boxer primed, not at all. Thew few mfg or reman's i avoid are
1- AMERC, the most blatantly dangerous mfg of reloaded ammo on the planet. They ended up not only refunding my money 12 years ago, but sending me another 300 rds of loaded ammo. Which was disassembled and sold for scrap. You folks who have the misfortune of seeing their ammo know where i come from. Those who don't a web search will fill you in.
2- HSM- they seem to be hit or miss. The few hundred rds of 357, 9 & 223 was MISS.
3 - BuffaloBore has a good rep and seems like their ammo is GTG. Yet the 38 loads i've seen, They crimp them with an air hammer ? ? ?

For a class, plinking and the like, I use Tula, if I know I can't pick up my brass...

Why would you not be able to pick up your brass?

Trying to figure out whose brass is who's when there are 5 shooters on the line, is difficult. Guy told me 1 day, hey that's my brass. You sure, yes i'm shooting 9mm [LOL]
Zq 762x51 bass didn't work for reloadong for me at all. Pressure signs at low end of data. Ymmv.

I will sometimes keep my brass or give it to people whom I'm shooting with to reload. I have this fantasy that one day I will start reloading so until then I have brass for no reason. I will buy remanufactured rounds, have yet to buy/try aluminum ones.

To the OP - If I bought factory ammo I would. As to preferences - UMC pistol brass tends to suck. Very thin. Amerc was already mentioned. Anything high pressure in Federal doesn't seem to last long (.45 auto seems ok). I've noticed RP pistol brass (Remington) is pretty thin. When loading jacketed bullets, getting good neck tension is tough, but it seems to work fine for cast boolits. CBC (Magtech), Blazer brass, Speer and PMC work great. My favorite find tends to be Winchester or W-W headstamps rifle or pistol. Sellier & Bellot pistol brass works fine once you open up the primer pocket - not really crimped, but very small for some reason. No issues with Hornady, although I got a bunch of "Hornady Match" brass in .308, and it's pretty inconsistent. Not a big deal, but not what I would consider match grade. Lake City rifle brass is great. TZZ / IMI brass tends to be thick, but will last you forever. Same with GGG, PMJ and just about every other NATO brass I've used. I know some boutique ammo companies use Starline brass with their custom headstamp (Buffalo Bore?). Starline is the only pistol brass I'd consider buying. Excellent stuff. I can think of a bunch of other great brands of brass (Norma, Lapua, etc), but it's doubtful you'll find it used in factory ammo.
I'm sure I'll think of more later. [Coffee]

Classes I have been to did not allow it for time and sorting issues...
