I went to the rennisance festival last weekend and found out I was a lot better at throwing knives than i thought i was... so i bought some throwing knives! I feel like a kid again im waiting for them to arrive so i can start throwing again. Just wondering if anyone actually does it a lot. I wasnt as good with the hatchets but the guy teaching us didnt really teach that well. either way throwing bladed objects is a blast!

I used to compete in Hawk throwing when I was in my early teens at rendezvous' along with Black Powder shooting. Never got into knife thorwing much. Lots of fun!

Ive thrown them in competition some. They are usually really nice and give me some neat stuff. I throw the tomahawk some as well.

I have been throwing hawks for awhile. actually just got a set of SOG throwing knives off of here, and love them!
that perfect hit is pretty awesome lol
More into throwing hawks/axes. Estwing Boy's axes are good little throwers. Don't have any "throwing knives". Most any fixed blade I have has been thrown more than once. SKS spikes are pretty good throwers and cheap.

When I was younger I did a lot. I was really good, but I used a Kershaw Amphibian, not a balanced throwing knife. I should take it up again.

If you look in the table under the rifle, there are a few of the knives I have won at hawk and knife competitions. I've gone to Rocky Mountain Nationals a few years, but these were all won at a rendezvous. They just gave plaques at nationals. Most of my throwing knives are purpose built and heavy, but I do have a set of Colt throwing knives that I carry. They are a little to light weight for my taste.

Glad to see your putting them to good use [Beer]
Saw 2 different sized packaged throwing knifes at Bass Pro. I think that they were Smith and Wesson branded. Would they be a good starter set?

And mazin, your 550 wrap was better than stock btw...
Ok so on to the fulcrums. anybody have any experience with these? They have the adjustable weights that slide up the grip. I'm getting good distance with the pictured knives, probably 25 feet or something. and my first throws with the fulcrums set all the way back, I was getting good hits at 30 or so.. you really have to wing those things, but they fly well. I want to start getting good at this... any tips etc?

I am apparently a SOG boy.. started with the fast hawk.. went to the full tommy, now onto the knives. they hold edge pretty well, the grip is decent, and they are heavy enough to get some repeatable throws at 2 revolutions.. (which is the fun distance as far as Im concerned).
I havent thrown anything else, but I would recommend the SOGs. If you do go with the S&W let me know how they are..

Thanks! lol
It's the SOG 3 pack. I think they are called "fling". bout 10 inches. Got one set from Mazin, loved em so much I bought an additional set. (walmart has em at like $35 i think). I think theyre a great beginner knife. (I had never thrown before and progressed pretty quick)

Damn Chad your an animal! I was worried that I added to much weight adding that 550 but with your throwing I guess it's good.
