Just ended, but what a great night for the Avalanche! Of course, as predicted by many NHL fans and reporters alike, the Hart trophy went to Crosby for the 2nd time... saw that coming. Shame that Vezina went to Tuuka Rask instead of Semyon Varlomov, but enough with the bad news, check out the awards Colorado gets to gloat about:
Jack Adams Award ("the NHL coach adjudged to have contributed the most to his team's success"): Patrick Roy!
Lady Byng Trophy ("to the player adjudged to have exhibited the best type of sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct combined with a high standard of playing ability): Ryan O'Reilly! 1,181 pts and only 2 Penalty Minutes in the season.
Calder Memorial Trophy (Rookie of the year): Nathan McKinnon! 1,347 pts! What a badass.

Of course the uncomfortable moment was when they did the more off-ice trophies for humanitarian and charity trophies and had Cuba Gooding Jr as one of the presenters, who was very visibly and obviously drunk off his ass... As soon as the interwebs folks upload a video of his drunken shenanigans I'll update with the video so you can see just how awkward things got... in case you missed it.

Congrats Avs... now let's hurry up and finish up with the summer so it can be October already and get the '14/15 season started! [Beer]

Note: Hockey is still way better than soccer... :P

McKinnon is a bad ass and I hope we keep him around for a while. Superstar in the making.

Good for the Aves for the awards. Bring it next year! They looked like champs all season, then....ugh.

I caught some of the show... I think Varly deserved the Vezina, possibly the Hart. Oh well. Congrats to MacKinnon, O'Reilly, and Roy.

GO AVS!!!

You sure about those point totals? I only remember both MacKinnon and O'Reilly having about 64 (still a large amount) on the year. I don't think anyone, even Gretzky (215 as the NHL record) or Mario Lemieux posted 1181 points in a season. Could those be minutes played?

That's what the NHL Awards site said... It might have been points towards the award in a different line than overall season points... [Dunno]
Anyway, here's the video of Cuba being very obnoxious...

I think it's points as far as who voted for them. For example, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place votes are worth 3, 2, and 1 point respectively. MacKinnon received 1347 points from votes to be the winner of the Clader Cup. It's not points as far as his individual stats.
