Tripod Mount

I saw photos of shooters using a camera tripod with their rifle mounted to it like this that LaRue sells http://www.laruetactical.com/larue-tactical-picatinny-rail-adapter

So it got me thinking since I'm a photographer and noticed that in many of the photos, the tripod that was used is from Manfrotto which is exactly what I use to for my camera gear. I had a spare bracket to use that mounts to any rail and I had a spare quick release plate for my Manfrotto camera tripod and decided to put it all together and try it out.

Seems to hold up really great. My Manfrotto camera tripod has a load capacity of 17 lbs......It's stable and easy to tilt and move the rifle around while standing up. I can even adjust the tripod so the legs lay near flat to the ground allowing me to shoot low laying on my front side too.

I'll have to try it out on the range.

Can even go lower than this where the tripod legs lay flat to the surface.

That's way cooler than a pair of shooting sticks. I like it man badass looking! Are you using this for hunting, or just long distance steal ringing???

Thanks, but thanks also to LaRue Tactical for giving me the idea.....going to try it out just for distance shooting from like different positions like standing up, sitting down, laying down front side...mainly more standing up, but the tripod legs are so adjustable to different heights that I can try different things like maybe shoot from uneven surfaces.

Here's shots of the same tripod bracket using a table top tripod made from Manfrotto too....I think this would be good for bench shooting but I won't know until I try it out. It is stable and has the same flexibility to tilt the rifle around....Folds up compact too.

There are a handful of tripod systems out there (in the market and home built) that are being used. It sure beats shooting off hand when you can't shoot prone [Coffee]
