Looks like "REEL DRILL" is an exercise designed to expose the maximum number of people to being muzzled and increase the probability of an accidental shooting for little real purpose.

[LOL] accurate description.

There are much better choices for training IMHO.

I got DQ'd from a local match after asking the RO to refer to me as Instructor Zero.

He does cool exhibition stuff, but very little of it comes across as combat effective to me. For example, I understand that the REEL drill is supposed to mitigate having both team members down during concurrent reloads. However, in the event that I've got multiple targets on the other end, I don't want to be used as a human shield while my teammate sits pretty. I'd rather utilize a firing cadence to ensure that there are two guns in the fight and we're both able to cover each other while reloading. It's worked thus far, so why try to reinvent it?

Did you have a bag over your head at the time?

THIS!
I would prefer to have as many guns "up" in the fight and either suppressing the enemy, or killing the enemy. I understand when one gun goes down the other has to pick up slack while one shooter is reloading, but if you have two guns ready to go, why not utilize the maximum amount of firepower. Instructor Zero is awesome for the neat tricks, but from a tactical standpoint, I'd rather be accurate over being able to empty whatever weapon platform I have in less than 2 seconds. In both my Army and LE training, I learned that when you need to suppress the enemy, you do so without exposing yourself or your team to unnecessary risk. And why in the hell would you ever have a SHTF scenario where you have a bag over your head? If someone was able to enact an oxygen depriving method on you, then either you failed somewhere, or your situational awareness is in dire need of fixing. Except if chemical agents are involved, in which case I think that shooting might come second to getting your O2 flow back online.

I'm guessing they fired over 50 rds during the Reel drill. Wonder how many hit the target? Any guesses?

LOL. I didn't even think it was worth addressing. Got a collapsed lung? You're in pain, but you can breathe. Chemical agent? You can try to hold your breath all you want, but your airway is not infallible and you will intake toxins. Get your mask on. In space? Well, I think you're already fucked.

He's a pretty sound shooter, so I'm sure his accuracy was up to par. However, you'll tally three targets on the business end of his weapon. How many did he hit before they hit him?

...and you're lucky that's the only recourse that was taken against you.

He has the "Zero" part right...the instructor part has been discussed plenty on several forums.
