I built two covers so far. One is slick with nothing on it. One is as shown in the pictures. I didnt use anyone elses design as a copy. BUT, there doesnt seem to be too many ways to build a suppressor cover. I guess thats why Tab, Armageddon, Griffon, etc all have the same basic design.

I have a real nice no contact laser infared thermometer and did a bunch of testing. Like MOST of the other companies, these would not be rated for full auto. I think that two back to back mag dumps would be close. (30rd .223)

As far as for my long distance shooting they have worked great.

Wonder if this would do the trick.

header wrap is notorious for condensation build up, over time. I'd look for some silicone sheets . OR buy silicone mats, make sleeves from Nomex with pads in between. . some kind of snaps to hold access side for replacement as needed.

This one here is nice, already formed to shape.

Have you considered a Bowers Griptastic? Less money, more durable, effective.

They are...on vehicles that spend a bit more time outdoors than say a suppressor.

Silicon base?

Yes they do, suppressors build up heat quicker, as well as disperse it. Price point the silicone mats and gloves are the best bang for the buck. HB has the material and capability to mfg the sleeves for them.

They don't slip on or off easy but the work really well.

Dont cheap out. In the long run the time and money you spend making one yourself will be more than a decent cover.

Armageddon or TAB.

Pot holders from amazon. These look like the cast iron handle units.

I like the pot holder idea. In fact, just grab one or two out of the kitchen and wrap them around the suppressor with a couple of zip ties. Voila. Cheap solution.

I loved my tab cover until it melted on my AR... however it still works, so there's that. I'll buy another one though eventually as I really liked it. Had no problems with the other one I bought for my .308 Rem700.

I added the way to tie it on, but my slick one wont shoot off either. I rolled the inner fabric on the rifle end, so It cant slip forward with recoil.

Here are some I have made.

I am experimenting with design and materials. Thanks to Jim for the help. He has kindly done some mag dumps and we tested temps with an infared laser thermometer. We had no problem with 4 back to back mag dumps (5.56)

The short one in the picture is Jim's, because his is much shorter than mine.

None of these need to be cinched on. I built a roll into the barrel end to keep it in place during recoil.

The spouse and i are very happy campers with our suppressor covers. EVEN IF MINE IS SHORTER. Those are needed if you have a Halo unit. While OAL is bigger, the can itself is not. Using a standard cover, it does not go over the halo mount.

So I see where IR thermometers were used, but what were the results? Curious as to what the temps were.
I, too am looking for something to keep from melting stuff in the back of the SUV.

IIRC 60 - 80* average temp difference

I had a TAB cover that melted. It was my own fault. They fixed it, no questions asked.

i wonder how many rounds it took to get to that point. I know he shot 200 rounds, but at what point did the heat become so intense that it was damaging the cover. I wish he had a ir thermometer and was checking it between mags or at least the end.

mine was doing 60-80% heat reduction. Im sure it would burn up at 200 rounds back to back, but I would like to try it.

I'd help, but you'd bitch about steel case, again.
