The Berkeley City Council voted unanimously Tuesday to change its laws to require marijuana dispensaries to give 2 percent of the amount of cannabis they sell each year to low-income medical users for free.
--snip--

“Basically, the city council wants to make sure that low-income, homeless, indigent folks have access to their medical marijuana, their medicine,” Berkeley City Councilmember Darryl Moore told CBS San Francisco (http://sanfrancisco.cbslocal.com/2014/07/02/berkeley-plans-to-provide-free-weed-for-low-income-patients-marijuana-pot-collectives-dispensaries/). “We think this is the responsible thing to do for those less fortunate in our community,” Moore added.

A) They are forcing a private business to give away 2% of their product.
B) They are giving away controlled substances.

That is messed up. Under what authority do they think they can do that? Is it a tax?

I wonder when East California, er, Colorado will propose the same thing.

I saw this earlier and just laughed. The lunacy knows no bounds!

"Everyone has a right to their medicine"

More placation of the populace.

I wonder if they are going to require pharmacy's to give away 2% of the pills on their shelves as well?

I mean everyone has a right to be able to get a hard on right?

Not even slightly surprising for Berkeley. It really is a very unusual place.

As much as some would like to lump Berkeley in with Boulder/Austin/Athens/Chapel Hill/etc., not one of them hold even a faint candle to Berkeley. -it really is that odd of a place.

That sounds like a brilliant way to force the dispensaries to move out of the city of Berkeley.

Wait.. you mean that isn't their intended goal? [facepalm]

There's a reason it's called Bizerkly.

So I guess Gucci will have to give 2% of it's wares to those that could not normally afford their product. Trust me, Beverly Hill's Rodeo Drive has many homeless people that need these things as bad as they need their drugs.

Re distribution right?
It's only fair

How many other liberal excuses can we come up with?

That's an answer we don't want to hear. Based on Pelosi's EMBRACING THE OPPORTUNITY the ILLEGALS present. How the fuck do you stop this shit? We know the answer, what's the tinder that is going to catch?

Waiting for liquor stores to follow suit. [WooHoo]

If I was a Berkley MMJ dispensary, I'd give away the worst skunk weed I could find.

Why is it so hard to treat MJ like any other business?
