Seems like a LOT more people are shooting off fireworks this year compared to years past. Me included. Must be that there has been rain and vegetation is still green. Also seems like there is more of a patriotic vibe in the air this year. Which is nice. Last night our neighborhood was exploding with fireworks and fun with zero hassle from the authorities. People getting together having cold beers and test firing their flammable purchases. Meeting people from the neighborhood for,the first time despite living here for 12 yrs.
Have a safe 4th!

If the kid down the block has their dogs get loose one more time. You'll see real fireworks.

If you didn't live so far away I'd bring my 160 pound bloodhound and put him in your yard. [emoji15][emoji15][emoji15]

I've been hearing them since June, and yes, a lot more.

So.. Are all fireworks illegal? Or just ones that go in the air?

Depends on your location.
Here in unincorporated El Paso County they are legal as long as they do not explode or leave the ground.
In the city all types are illegal.

Yes I had a wonderful time hearing what sounded like flashbangs on the street outside my window while I tried to sleep. Not everyone is off from work today!

Westminster has the most lienent firework rules in the state I think. "legal" fireworks can be done from the 3rd till the 5th. Complainers can pound sand if they call the cops. Some of the crackle effect legal fireworks are pretty loud. Same with the whistle ones. Somehow I have acquired some mortar rounds that set off car alarms. Sweet.

when we lived in unicorp arapahoe i knew the ACSO' fairly well. All the neighbors would run their garden hoses out front. Kids would do sparklers and other ground displays till sunset. Then we'd put on a show till 10-11 pm.
Folks liked the 1/2 sticks an acquaintance would procure for us.

EVERYTHING sold in CO street displays is ground only. They do offer like the places in north denver displays for people with out of state DL's , providing they drove up in car that matched DL.
Then there are places if the owners know you, it's Cash n Carry

It looked like Fallujah in 04 here last night. No cops called no vaginas crying. It's nice to not hear people complain over everything.

a few year ago we went to a friends house in eaton for eaton days, he threw a good sized ground pounder in the street but it rolled under a car a crossed the street, I told him if he blew the car up I was coming back every year!

Been pretty quit up here (fireworks).

Definitely a "new moon" crowd out today. Most of the deadbeats must have left town for the weekend. The streets are fills with oxygen deprived tourists.

Getting my firework fix tonight in Central City/Blackhawk.

The smoke is THICK in the air over in Western Littleton. Sounds like a war zone. Air bursts everywhere you look. And big ones this year, not the little tiny mortors but some professional variety getting launched too. I am loving every second of it. We did the usual fountains and spinners for the kiddos who enjoyed it. However, the kiddo isn't enjoying the constant barrage now that she's trying to go to sleep. Oh well, this is 'Merica and any kid of mine is going to learn to love the sound of freedom. Music to my ears.

I must live fairly close to you! More fireworks in the air this year than the 3 prior years for sure and like you said big ones! Pretty impressive... No way all these people went out of state to buy them?

Things were pretty quiet here in my neighborhood last night. In fact, when I looked outside this morning I told the wife it seemed odd for there not to be any firework remnants or burn spots somewhere on the street.

We do have an unrestricted view of Thornton, which about a 1/2 mile away. Good show.
It seemed like quite a few folks had disposable income this year and spent a bunch on fireworks.
I could only afford to light a match.

I actually made it down there. Showed up right at 9:30, watched the show, and then immediately left. Parked right across the street from that 7-11.

Very loud down here too, many mortars. I can hardly wait until 2017, (Barack president gone) you will need welding goggles, due to the glare.

Just one.
