What's your favorite patriotic movie?
I'm kind of split between The Patriot and Red Dawn.
The President's speech in Independence Day puts that one near the top of the list too.

Miracle, top gun, born on the 4th of july
I really liked The Patriot. Red Dawn is pretty darn good too. I actually saw that in theaters when it first came out. Even the remake of Red Dawn wasn't too bad.

I have to agree with The Patriot, Red Dawn, Miracle, and Top Gun
I'll add Rocky 4 (even though Sly is crazy) and Apollo 13 (to see what the U.S. could do)

Yeah, the remake is pretty decent as far as remakes go.

Red Dawn was good as was The Patriot
Not sure if I have that one Patriotic movie???
For me a definite Patriotic "show" not a movie would be the America Our Country series, Founding Fathers; Rebels with a cause. I thought it was very well put together trying to get my young boys to watch it and learn a little since school is not there yet.

This might seem a bit silly, but there is a movie called Battleship that I like. Not really what I would call a patriotic movie but the scene where the main character asks the WWII vets to borrow their ship is pretty cool.

These are US, the others are sort of English. Which side of the Revolution were you on? [Beer]
Kwai is a great movie and I could watch almost anything Sir Alec did on film.

Patriotism, we were ALLIED fighting the krauts and japs. FWIW: there were a few American actors in the movie.

I'm torn between
Mr. Smith Goes to Washington
Sands of Iwo Jima
Strategic Air Command
She Wore a Yellow Ribbon
There are a lot of other war movies that make me feel good about America (like The Longest Day, Patton, Glory, Gettysburg (especially Chamberlain's speech to the "mutineers" of the 2d Maine), We Were Soldiers, etc.) and others like Apollo 13 that also make me proud about what America has done but I'm not sure I'd classify them as patriotic movies.
I am rather curious why someone classified Born on the Fourth of July as a patriotic movie as I felt Oliver Stone spit on America (it remains the only movie I've ever walked out on) -- not arguing, trying to get your viewpoint.

It shows a different POV . SEA war games was not something everyone supported, or agreed with. Myself i enlisted to avoid being drafted. YMMV
I met Ron a few times, one of those years later , Hey That's that guy. .. He lived next town over, same town the baldwins resided.

Not really a movie theatre type movie but apparently I am the only one choosing the TV
series "24". All the others mentioned above are excellent too!
Midway
and even though not a movie the victory at sea series

I would like to nominate the Band of Brothers miniseries for being a little patriotic, but mostly for telling the stories of America's greatest generation. I feel awesome every time I watch any of the episodes.

It was put together very well. The pacific was a mess in miniseries comparison.
Sergeant York/The Patriot - 50/50
Those two, for sure.

Oh...I just remembered the most patriotic scene ever in a movie. Jamie Lee Curtis in "True Lies" doing her dance in the hotel room while trying to plant a bug. God bless America!

Well, if we're going to nominate mini-series, I'll add From the Earth to the Moon.
-Not sure if it counts, but the PBS series directed by Ken Burns "The National Parks: America's Best Idea", on the National Parks is downright amazing in terms of production value, it's really well done.
Dr. Strangelove?

I have that doc. It just reminds me that people are still pigs. They trashed Yosemite back then and they are still trashing it today.
Now, the Civil War, WWII and The Pacific are three docs I can't get through without the allergies hitting me. Close second for Baseball. Guess these are where I find the patriotism.

Hmmm...not sure if military = "patriotic" per se but I'd say "Gardens of Stone" is certainly one of my favorite military movies, with "Black Hawk Down" being a close second.
"The Patriot" I call a swing and a miss. It always pisses me off when Hollywood takes a great, great story and then turns it into a formulaic Hollywood BS-fest. The story of Daniel Morgan, Nathaneal Greene, Francis Marion, Banastre Tarleton and the battles in the Carolinas in the latter part of the Revolutionary War is a great story that Mel Gibson turned into a silly soap opera.
Ditto for "We Were Soldiers" which was a great book and an awful movie.
