They had a booth at Farmers Market in Boulder today with their workers roving about with clipboards getting signatures. Not sure what the signatures were for (they oddly didn't approach me, I must not look the part..). Yes, I realize it was 'Boulder', but like it or don't, those are CO signatures they are collecting [Mad]

Somehow I can't see the NRA being granted permission to have a booth at the same function.

Maybe RMGO could get a booth. They are local.

More paid signature takers. Probably don't know/care what they are signing.

Even if they are just collecting names & email addresses that is dangerous. They are positioning themselves as a massive grassroots pressure group organized to send in millions of letters pushing for more common sense controls. They are creating a direct counter to the NRA grassroots pressure.

Edit: This is nationwide. This is what Bloomberg's money is buying.

Took the kids to a local 4th of July parade, and saw a contingent of MDAGSA parading in the contingent. Other THR members probably have seen this before, but this was my first direct exposure to the Mothers group.

A few things struck me about their presence:

the front ranks held a huge, high quality banner (nicer than the local FD or any veterans group had)
all (some 35-40 of them) had professionally printed signs and placards
They were all dressed in quite well done t-shirts with the MDAGSA across the front and back
They also had a booth presence in the festival center, again with professional tabletop banner, placards and collateral.
They had an array of issue papers and fill-in-the blank letters for folks to mail their local politicians.

Someone went poof? Too bad.

Anymore "grass roots" is about as useless a term as "common sense". These are well funded groups with one purpose.

I just wonder how many members here voted for Obama? I know I didn't.

A browse through the L&P forum can give you a better idea. You don't even have to wander past page 1. We do thank you for affirming who you didn't vote for.

This, as in this web site, or this as in the MDA folks? The MDA/ bloomingbirds aren't a political org they are ZEALOTS. IF they were a pro gun .org the SPLC who label them a Domestic Terrorist group. SINCE they have the same ideology AND AGENDA as SPLC they're just a bunch of grassroots organizers.

Hey MDA you want action, i have a few actions i'd be happy to share with you. In a meaningful dialogue sort of way. KUMBAYA

NOT even close. Protesting and organizing to save CHILDREN'S (ages 1month-30yrs old) lives from the horror of gun violence is based on a one world vision of peace. AND protected by the 1st Amendment

Protesting outside an abortion clinic (ok planned parenthood) is only done by RELIGIOUS RIGHT WING haters who have declared War on Women.
They serve no purpose but terrorizing women from all walks of life, who seek safe and healthy ways to prevent STD's AND maybe, just maybe remove a fetus from their reproductive area.

WHICH would not have been necessary IF the 5 WHITE CHRISTIAN CONSERVATIVES HAD NOT SIDED WITH HOBBY LOBBY. Setting back woman's rights, to the stone age.

We can do something better. $1-5 per member donation PLUS some printing work can beat these mama clowns. We can organize something much cooler.
I am willing to drive 5major counties area with boxes of water inside the cooler for volunteer and our booth visitors.
We got Ferrari drivers here who can draw attention as well. <--- kidding[LOL]
I vote more senior (date and post count) as a lead for this. Willing to show these lib clown moms that we are more organized, more funded, more educated, more income, more asset, more polite, more family orientated, more community focused, etc etc....

The term "grass roots" still has meaning to the right groups...

But with the deep pockets of Blomberg behind them, theirs is an "Astroturf" organization

Person who should lead should have some experience in trade booth, marketing , and some other people skill experience.
I will follow. I can print out those handouts on a laser printer, haul water inside the cooler for everyone , etc.

I am extremely tired of these lib clown moms.
I am tired of these moms dictating corporate retailers/restaurants.
I am tired of these idiot moms who can't/doesn't even gather samples nor data and thinks firearm will bring more crimes. (they think they are some type of sociology tenured professor).
I am tired of these idiot soccer mom thinking they are so intelligent, because they "know" the "fact" that gun has AI in them, and crawls and shoots people by itself.
I am tired of these idiot yogaphillic inner circle moms who hates firearm.

-don't mistake their name for their gender, the people manning the MDA booth that I saw yesterday were men, nothing "mom" about them.

This group reminds me of Mothers Against Canada. Don't blame the real culprits, but vilify an inanimate object.

I dont remember seeing anything about Hobby Lobby forbidding employees from obtaining birth control. I saw nothing about Hobby Lobby forbidding female employees from seeking abortions. What rights were violated? Who the hell gave women the "right" to free birth control? Please show me some sort of documentation anywhere that gives ANYONE the "right" to free services or products. Yes it is the same. You cant tell me you're saving children by banning guns while out of the other side of your mouth you support killing what will become a human being. That fetus/embryo will NOT grow into anything other than a human. You cant have it both ways.

You talking to me? [LOL] Obviously you missed the parody of progressive validation.

Here's a definition for the dictionary challenged
Parody : Noun

Something so bad as to be equivalent to intentional mockery; a travesty.
The trial was a parody of justice.

Bloomberg-backed gun control group to survey candidates ahead of 2014 midterms (http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2014/07/07/bloomberg-backed-gun-control-group-to-survey-candidates-ahead-2014-midterms/)

A gun-control group founded and backed by former New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg is asking all House and Senate candidates in the 2014 midterm elections to complete a 10-part survey on issues related to firearms.

The Washington Post reports that the survey will ask respondents questions about their stance on issues like background checks for gun buyers, limiting magazine capacity, and passing laws restricting gun trafficking. Bloomberg's group, Everytown for Gun Safety, will then use a particular candidate's answers, as well as an analysis of past votes and public statements to either support or campaign against a candidate.

The system is meant to emulate and counter the legislative ratings system of the National Rifle Association, which assigns lawmakers a letter grade based on their support of pro-gun rights legislation.

NRA spokesman Andrew Arulanandam told the Post that Bloomberg's efforts made him "just the latest incarnation of a long line of anti-freedom billionaires who’ve tried to take on the National Rifle Association."

Bloomberg's Everytown for Gun Safety group was formed out of the merger of Mayors Against Illegal Guns and Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America. Bloomberg became one of the most prominent voices for gun control while still mayor of New York, and has vowed to more than double the NRA's spending on political campaigns in this midterm cycle. The Post that the NRA spends approximately $20 million per year on various campaigns and candidates.

John Feinblatt, the president of Everytown for Gun Safety and a longtime Bloomberg policy adviser, told the paper that the group was targeting the 2014 midterms, but planned to remain active long after this election cycle.

"You don’t build a counterweight to the gun lobby overnight," Feinblatt said. "We’re in this for the long haul."
