View Full Version : Has anyone had a direct denial or CLEO sign off from DougCo Sherrif Weaver?
He's claiming he signs off on NFA.

I have had direct conversations with him where he says he will NOT sign off on NFA forms. If you take the forms to the office they will tell you directly that the Sheriff will not sign off and to take them and go home. His reasoning is that "What if these fell into the wrong hands". He has said that to me, to my face.
Is this still up? I can't seem to find it?

I had heard he did this last time. Do you have a direct link to this posting?
The post has apparently been removed from their facebook page...

Of course - it's either
a) A candidate lying in writing.
b) Smear campaign against candidate.
A political organization can afford neither.
If Sheriff Weaver wants to really put his money where his mouth is, he'll agree to sign legally binding documents indicating that he will sign all NFA permits unless X circumstance is met and do so within X weeks of receipt of the request. He certainly won't be getting my vote otherwise.
It's still there, although maybe not easily found?

I wrote the comments, so there's no smear involved. Simple question to him and I'm just trying to verify if he's still opposed to NFA (thereby lying to me) or not.

Thanks.
Approximate dates?
Just trying to get clarification if that's still his stance. He can say he signs forms, but if there's a recent denial, I want to be able to confront him with it (in general).
Anyone that wants to contact him directly with YOUR specific denial and call him out, please do so and let us know the response.
Weaver is term limited for Sheriff, but with him running for commissioner, he's got to be defeated if he's opposed to NFA for the "average" Joe citizen.

Vector, you do realize he is running for county commissioner as he is term limited as sheriff? as a commissioner, he cannot sign off on any NFA forms...

Actually, with Hilbert term limited, Weaver is defacto commissioner as he is unopposed and expected to be appointed early to replace Hilbert who is moving on early.

Weaver has resigned his position as Sheriff of Douglas County and was sworn in as the new county commissioner last night.

Anybody know if the new Sheriff Spurlock will sign off on NFA items?

And as a Sheriff he has demonstrated he does not have the necessary outlook on things to receive anyone's vote for CC. Shifting him from (bad) Sheriff to (bad) CC does nothing for Douglas county but bad. Instead of (badly) enforcing policy he will be (badly) making policy. That's bad.

Cav, its done and over with. You are a couple of months late to the party.
Not so much. He is CC so the party is still going. The invite list is sealed, though. He can be hamstrung by citizens who go to open meetings. "As Sheriff you... and now as CC you... so how can you say...".
It's never too late to talk smack about politicians. :)

The OP was asking about Weaver signing off as the CLEO on NFA items. The issue is moot as he isn't the sheriff anymore. Start a new thread if you want to discuss Weaver as a county commissioner.
