Chicago had five dozen people shot last weekend. (http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2014/07/07/11-killed-at-least-60-wounded-in-citywide-shootings-this-weekend/)
Colorado had a lot fewer.
Obviously, they need more gun laws like we have here.[facepalm]

Surprised Emanuel didn't mention new gun laws as a proposed solution.

He did, in today's chi-town edition.

“A lot of people will say ‘Where were the police, what are the police doing?’ and that’s a fair question, but not the only question. Where are the parents? Where is the community? Where are the gun laws? Where are the national leaders?” Emanuel said. (while hiding behind 8 Ill State police)
anyone see the bullshit of this ?
Police Supt. Garry McCarthy and Mayor Rahm Emanuel called the level of violence over holiday weekend “unacceptable”
Well, that ought to help...
It appears from that article if they kept people off the streets between 10pm to 6am they could reduce shootings by about 80%. Maybe Rahm Emanuel could propose that people get jobs instead of more useless gun control laws.

Their biggest problem is that the don't keep criminals in jail. Yesterday's article clearly stated that one of the shooters had over 20 prior convictions. Another had a recent gun violation and was out on bail. Keep criminals in jail and they can't be out being a menace to society

Maybe reinstate that midnight basketball part of the 94 Crime Bill. Supposedly it worked so well, instead of crime, some went in to politics ;)

Chicago's police superintendent lashed out at what he called lax state and federal gun laws after a violent Fourth of July weekend that saw more than 60 people shot and nine killed in a city already known for frequent shootings.

That does not sound like a common sense solution as much as "it's the guns fault"and "we need more gun control!!!"

I had forgot about midnight basket ball, why did that go away? Such a success story to get criminals off the streets and into politics.
With 71 people being shot in one weekend, at least we here in CO have something to look forward to as they roll out more gun control laws.
The one rule of law that should be considered is that only law makers from states or cities where gun crime is lowest can even propose any new gun laws. Clearly everything Emanuel, Fineswine and Lickendicker does just increases gun crime.
