Well the future is coming quick.

DARPA’s Extreme Accuracy Tasked Ordnance (EXACTO) program recently conducted the first successful live-fire tests demonstrating in-flight guidance of .50-caliber bullets. This video shows EXACTO rounds maneuvering in flight to hit targets that are offset from where the sniper rifle is aimed. EXACTO’s specially designed ammunition and real-time optical guidance system help track and direct projectiles to their targets by compensating for weather, wind, target movement and other factors that could impede successful hits.
The EXACTO program is developing new approaches and advanced capabilities to improve the range and accuracy of sniper systems beyond the current state of the art. For more information, please visit the program page (http://www.darpa.mil/Our_Work/TTO/Programs/Extreme_Accuracy_Tasked_Ordnance_(EXACTO).aspx)
PS: I wonder which one of you is gonna bring up Tom Selleck first?

Darpa doesn't care, they're not spending their own money.

Well the cost is probably going to be weighed against a hellfire which runs at 100k a pop.

Also less rounds shot. Savings plus transportation to the field will be less amount needed.

Dumb bullets are pretty cheap. With all of the miniaturization and the high G loading, these guided bullets could be insanely expensive.

Or you could hit what you are aiming at and call it good.

With one shot from an aircraft in flight without injuring the 15 civilians nearby?

As long as I keep it below .95 Mach, it's no problem from my end.
