Headed up to Estes Park for the day on Friday.
Here was the Official Greeter at the parking lot by the City Hall.

That's a big boy. Hopefully there aren't any Boulder cops around.

He is a good sized elk, give it another 2 months there will be many more bigger than him.

The name escapes me at the moment, but it's the restaurant that has the tree growing in the middle of it , (Nicky's Steak House??)
Anyway, Take the spousal unit up to estes for nice dinner. See the usual fauna wandering around. Chow down, great meal. Time to leave, come around the drivers side of the truck and OOPS! staring at the ass end of bullwinkle. Went back for a beverage, or 2, while the moose wandered through the parking lot. As cute as the tree huggers think they are, they're one mean SOB when annoyed, OR disturbed.
WHAT you didn't whip out your 2 tactical shotguns and blast that sucker?
Tried to reason with him over a cup of chia tea?
Took a photo op for the tourists?
ZERO THEORY

I'm more nervous around moose than bear. Saw one while camping last weekend that was obviously debating whether or not he wanted to charge my truck.

6x7 Full body bull, with ~18" brow tines? There may be a few bigger than him, but I would argue that "many bigger" assertion.
If that boy walked in front of me during season at my spot, I would be overjoyed to pull that trigger. 95%+ serious hunters go hunting multiple seasons every year for their entire life and never get an opportunity for and bag a bull like that.
Yes, they can and do get bigger, but that is a definitely a trophy bull.

Wow! What a big, gorgeous elk. Thanks for sharing your photos- I don't get up to Estes very often, so that's a treat to see. :)
