View Full Version : Kershaw Emmerson Knives
I hope you all get to try these Knives. The Steel is Pretty good, holds and edge fairly well. The Wave feature is awesome! I used think that think was ugly and useless, but I was wrong again. I love the wave, it opens the knife as I pull it out of my pocket. One hand box opening and cutting. Thanks for reading.
I have a spyderco with wave feature and I add a zip tie to my other sypdercos to use it similar to the wave. Yes wave is awesome
They are not that expensive either. Thought about picking one up.
I pre-ordered and got it 2 weeks ago. Cool knife for the price.
I've had an Emerson CQC8 in my pocket since 2009, never leave home without it.

This whole thread is worthless without pics, as I won't be nearly as tempted to buy one, without seeing a few members throw up some KNIFE port...

I will post some pics as soon as it arrives, just ordered one! I've been needing a new knife to replace my kershaw chive and this fit the bill. Midwayusa has the CQC-6k for $29 with free shipping HERE (http://www.midwayusa.com/product/988063/kershaw-emerson-cqc-6k-folding-knife-325-drop-point-8cr13-stonewashed-stainless-steel-blade-g10-handle-black)
Edit: I went back and ordered the CQC-3K as well. For any one looking to buy compare the specs on kershaws website. Amazon and Midway both had their product descriptions wrong on blade length.

Wow... big pig stickers. I've never had a need to carry a knife that large(7-3/4" open length). Compensating for something? (easy now, just kidding)
I love Kershaw, but I carry a smaller Ken Onion Kershaw (Chive) Just under 2" Blade.

My favorite knife and it is tiny. I just seemed to have misplaced it the last week!

The 3K series is a very EDC friendly due to it's size. The 6K is a bit big but carries nice. I would consider it more of a camping type knife due to its size. Sort of like carrying a G26 to a G19/G17. Both feel like they are well built and of quality. Very happy with both of them!

Excellent. I pre-ordered a CQC-4k through Blade HQ quite some time ago and I'm waiting on it still. Orders are filled according to the order they were placed, and I had to wait a while to place my pre-order. So I assume I should be getting it soon. I think they've fulfilled some of the orders so far.

I did see Midway has a ETA of 8/8 on the 4K. I would hope you would get yours before then.

I got an email from Blade HQ that the 4's & 1's were a bit behind the others as far as availability goes. I hope I get it soon!

Man that was some fast shipping. So far I'm impressed with the knife build quality. Makes a real reasonable way to have an "Emerson" knife, at a Kershaw price. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/08/03/yhu8u5u5.jpg

Here's an interesting article on Ernest Emerson. I love how the discovery of the wave feature played out.

Looks like some pics were deleted. Here is the trifecta.

I like the Kershaw/Emmerson knives because they are cheap and effective. You can usually find them for about $20 and at that price you can throw them away after they earn their keep. Are they as solid or high quality as a "Real" Emmerson knife? Nope. But then again they are not $200 either. You get what you pay for.
The thing that I really like about these knives is that they are cheap enough to willingly abandon if you have to. I have taken a few of these on international trips, cruises and things like that which usually frown on knives. If it gets confiscated or I have to abandon it in an airport while traveling its not a big loss.
I bought one of the Kershaw Emersons last year. Mostly to try the wave. I love the idea. The 25 dollar version I got is as heavy as a brick. I'm tempted to drill some holes to lighten it up. As it is, its a tool box knife. This is the first non US mad Kershaw I've bought. A bit disappointed, but it was cheap.

I understand the real Emersons are heavy, too. Probably not the best for EDC for a lot of folks, but I don’t mind the weight. It feels, well, comforting.
