View Full Version : Package stolen off of the porch...
[Mad] USPS updated that the package had been delivered. I arrived home an hour later and no package. I figured that USPS had gone full retard again and not actually delivered it. I waited until today and no package again. I called and spoke to the driver who described my house accurately and said he remembered delivering it specifically onto my porch. So I have ruled out that USPS did not deliver it to me and obviously someone stole it.
USPS guy said they have been having "tons of thefts" in my zip code (80918). I asked him why he would leave a package on my doorstep if he knew there was a high percentage chance of it getting stolen? No answer for that one. Anyway, what actions can I take? I contacted the eBay seller to see if he by chance had it insured and could try that route.
This is the second item I have stolen in the last month. Previous incident involved duty Police gear from my truck as I was around the corner letting my dog go to the bathroom. Clearly it is some shitbird who lives right near me. I think it's time to move!

Get a wireless camera on the cheap that takes stills when it detects movement and put it in a window that views the porch if you have one.
Catch the bastard.

I just got this 4 camera setup for my place. I'm still in the process of setting the cameras in their locations but the quality looks good and setup was easy.

LMK if you decide to order it, you can have it shipped to my shop so the shit birds don't steal it off your porch. :D
I hope you catch them red handed, I would pay to see his/her face.
I got the same setup... going to eventually wire up 8 cameras all over the house. As soon as I get over my fear of the attic.

I saw that in the other thread. I got tired of waiting on you to post a review so I just ordered it. haha
Looks good so far. I only have one line that will need to go through the attic, lucky me!
EDIT: Tip for attics with blow in, get a tyvek suit and duct tape the wrists, ankles and neck tight. It will keep most of the itchiness out.

The day I was in the attic it was no shit 130 degrees up there. I started getting flashbacks of swapping out commo gear in HMMWV's in the sandbox, so I had to get out of there. Found where I have to drill to get the wires up the chase, but after that I just have to figure out where I can get a camera to the eaves.

Really sucks... I think both UPS and Fedex have a deal where you can schedule when things will be dropped off, and if you can't be home around the time it'll be dropped, you can pick it up at the ups/fedex distribution center. *EDIT* didn't notice the OP said this was USPS... yeah, no help there. Post office really doesn't seem to give a crap.
Over the holidays, I spotted a car that seemed to be following around the UPS guy. They'd drive up right after the truck, sit there for a while, and eventually drive away. Next day, I saw the Ups truck, then a minute later there was the car. I called the jeffco sheriff department with a car make/model/plate number, but never saw any response.

I can get you one of those orange disposable construction coveralls if you need it. Also wear a good respirator so you won't breath in the fine fiber particles.
But wait until the weather cools down, attics are way too hot to be in this time of year.
If you go outside in the wee hours of the night, butt naked, with a firearm and start loudly screaming obscenities at your imaginary friend people will know to stay well clear of your house.
Package stealing problem solved.

You have the shipper do a signature required, delivery. This eliminates the stolen package problem.
ups store box costs $144/year they sign for it and hold it in the back until I pick it up in person.

I see tons of signature required packages left at doors weekly (sometimes the correct door). usually a lazy worker, fedex, dhl, ups, usps have all done it.

That would be awesome, yeah it is waaayyy too hot. the blown in insulation is fiberglass too itchy
Leave a box that looks like it was just delivered on your porch. Fill said box with feces. Problem solved.

Stake out at T-Giv's place!
Theft of US Mail is a federal felony, regardless of value. Contact the postmaster at your local post office. If they won't initiate an investigation, contact the Postal Inspection Service, and the FBI.

I once had a Rolex watch shipped back to my house after some repair work. Obviously got a required signature and the insurance for the 6k watch. Got the "delivery confirmation" around 9:00 in the morning and figured that UPS tried to deliver it but I wasn't home so obviously they wouldn't leave it. WRONG. Came home at 6 and it had been sitting on the porch all day long...right on the doormat.
I have a Bush in front of my door and SOMETIMES, they hide the package behind the Bush.

If the ups driver scans the pkg. and it comes up as a signature required delivery he can't leave it.

Just because it has a sticker doesn't mean shit.. if they're not clicking the button during the shipping selections.

Exactly. See it everyday. Shipper puts a adult sig. Required sticker on pkg. Hoping to get a sig. For free.
