Anyone like to go 4 wheeling AND shooting? I am curious because my Bronco's are getting delivered today. Slaughterhouse Gulch is a decent place to go, and real close for me. Anyone know of other places?
workin' on my Blazer, maki'n it bigger and meaner.
gotta be careful round SH, the residents of KZ will call the coppers on shooters... I listen to the scanner..

I haven't been there in a while, still not supposed to shoot there? Guess we will just have to drive the loop, then shoot at Harris Park.[Tooth]
Fail---------------no pics of bronco.[Beer] I love pictures of 4x4s.

Thanks for the offer, but that's what I do too[Beer]. I sold/traded RRD3 the stuff to build his own Bronco, A '78, mine's a '96, got enough parts to build 1 more, a '93.
66,67,68,69,70,71,72,73....lol
we are building a 77 scout monster truck for a client.

Webster pass and RedCone pass just outside of Grant are decent places too. I have friends who own the gold mine 3/4 of the way up Webster pass I go wheelin shootin up there all the time!
Slaughter House Gulch is a great place to take someone who's never wheeled before. I've only done Redcone once and it was one of my favorite runs we ever did. We did it at night and the bottom was moist, then as we got to the top there was snow. Then when we got out of the trees, it was a blizzard and we didn't go to the top or down the other side, so I never got to do the scary part.

Cool! Very good info, I had forgot about those trails. Thanks!

Do I see a wheeling trip in our future?
The goldmine that was owned by _____ and family has been blown up by usfs. and cleaned up, still alot of water coming out of the ground. If it is the one I know.
there are several back on the turn off trail before you start up Webster/Redcone.
We went last July and a whole Rented jeep of people from NY came down Redcone the look on their faces was PRICELESS. the women had to PEE, and so did the dudes..LOL
They asked if there was another way down the Mtn.. we lied and told em NO, gotta go down Webster, they walked out on the edge and then came back to the jeep,, we then told em we were full of it and if they continued down the trail they would come out in a little town and the eventually follow the signs to Keystone.
We took their pics for them and off they went...
Hey Tim, it works better if you read all the posts first.[Beer]
I read them, just really want to see the pics. Just got back from rippin' in Walden and wish I was still there.
Here is my first attempt to upload a pic.

Nice, but it needs a tactical looking push bar/brush guard on it.
I agree...a two tube bar would be sweet on the front with the winch wire coming out between the two.
you need to spray paint it black with a white punisher on the hood and on the doors[Beer]
blackford76

It is black, just needs the skulls painted on! Good idea, gonna have to do it.

The Punisher skull is nice, but I have more of a preference for a Bantha skull (see my avatar for an example). Either way it'd be intimidating.

05-28-2009, 10:33
It is open for trail use, but I guess it is still closed to shooting. Ex govenor Romer did a shady deal for that, he leased it from the Gov't to put some cattle there.
Lets see if this works.
Well i cant seem to add a photo.

I love 1st gen Broncos, nice ride Jim.
Hey Jim FL or GA?
That is in FL, south of Orlando.
Now if I can just finish the EFI install I started, I can enjoy it this summer.
Me to, in the Clearwater area, next to Tampa.
Moved to CO 10 years ago. That pic was last year when I was back in FL for 1 year.
know it all well. Grew up in Temple Terrace, went to King High
moved to Plant City and had a farm, built alot of stuff at Disney, Sea World, Reds Stadium and all over the state. got tired of the crowds, had family here and BAM moved. Luv the mtns. the cold and Elk hunting.
My Brother lives in N FL is a Pro Bassmaster, I go back hunt hogs, and fish with him.
My dad lives near Tampa still.

Lmao, and it's totally flat there...were you doing doughnuts or something?
Supercharged, rear locker engaged (in 2WD) donuts. I started in tight circles and started going in a pretty wide circle so I was pretty much drifting instead of just doing a doughnut. Then I guess there was a rut, things went sideways, and the next thing I knew I was kicking the passenger side window to get the door open. I wasn't hurt.

RRD3What date do we have in mind?
blackford76... how soon were you thinking about doing this?
I'm ready right now, but am open for this weekend. Sat...Sun...what does everyone else think? A little Slaughterhouse Gulch run followed by some shooting at Harris Park? Maybe even an overnight? I need to pop my Bronco's cherry.[Tooth]
i am far away from having the efi ready in my bronco. but i would not mind a ride along with someone on the trail and some shooting afterwards.
i could not make it till the weekend of the 13th
if you go sooner maybe we can try a few of these this summer and i can make it next time out.
No reason to do this just one weekend a month... it's not like we are in the fucking Guard man! [ROFL1]
I'm good this weekend and another other weekend we can everyone in on it. If you don't have an off-roader we have seats for your ass cheeks and cargo space for the toys :D
That's what I'm thinkn [Beer]

OK, I guess I started this, anyone interested in a "wheelin' & shootin'" day, PM me, I'll start a list and maybe come up with days guys can get together for this kind of thing. I'm going to guess that there will be a wide level of seperation in the groups ability to wheel, so we may need to break it down.
I'll need to know who would have the ability to take riders so we can include guys without trucks too.
There isn't any need for this to be a one time deal, we can do it anytime we get enough guys together.
I'm ready for next weekend, and I have room for 1 more and toys.

I'm all for a wheelin and shootin trip, Slaughterhouse gulch is a fun run and can be as easy or as difficult as you make it. My personal favorite is Red Elephant Hill and the Empire Loop, although I don't think there is any place to shoot. Did plenty of wheelin and shootin last summer in my First Gen 4runner. Now driving a 99 Cherokee.

shit...last year during elk season my 03' silverado went where my buddies F-150 couldn't make it, in the rain on a nice steep muddy slope. just crawled right up it! worst shit I have ever been in and was very impressed by the performance.
the wicked snow storms 2 winters ago...I pulled out 4, yes 4 FORD trucks out of the snow with my silverado.
considering the GMC is the exact same thing but with a nice looking front end, I am happy[Flower]

very true, I have seen it all on the large hill in back of my house.
saw a brand new dodge dakota (still had temp tags on it) roll down that hill. totaled!!![Beer][ROFL1]
did your insurance cover that or what was the end result?
Yep. I told them I was doing donuts and rolled it. They came out and I got a check for more than I owed on it. More than I paid for it actually.
*Waits on 20 idiots to come out of the wood work saying I committed insurance fraud.*

wow that is awesome. so even though it was kinda reckless driving they still covered it? I figured they would try to fight you on it.
glad it worked out.
It doesn't matter that it was careless, or reckless driving. They only don't cover stuff that was intentional. I can assure you that I didn't intentionally roll my truck while I wasn't wearing my seat belt. :)
People always like to try and tell me that I committed insurance fraud because I got more money for the truck than I paid for it, but I'm not the one that did the estimate or wrote the check. I was nervous that I was going to owe a bunch of money on a totaled truck still, but I was pleasantly surprised in the end.

Hell no.... you pay for insurance and as long as you do when ever your using the vehicle for what it's for, weather it be having fun, hauling, or anything like that you should be able to collect.
This excludes fire bombs, although fun just isn't part of the the fun with a vehicle thingy [ROFL1]
OK, I'm not a young pup with a rock crawler, haven't even DONE any off-roading yet, but I'm restoring my dad's old hunting Jeep, a 1956 Willys CJ5 that was stored indoors for 30 years. I hope to get it done before I croak. This is how it looked fresh out of storage. I'm taking it back to showroom mint condition, with certain performance/safety upgrades.
