Mike Hughes is a current Rangemaster at Gunsite Academy. He spends about half of his time living and teaching in Prescott (home of Gunsite) and the other half living in the Denver area. He teaches Pistol, Revolver, Carbine, and Shotgun while at Gunsite. He is frequently requested to instruct high profile companies such as Smith & Wesson and Colt Arms as well as government agencies and international law enforcement personnel. His local training company is Raven Company, LLC.

He a certified LE instructor as well as Surefire lowlight instructor. He is licensed in Colorado and Arizona for CCW training.

This will be a 1 day class held just outside of Elizabeth, CO

This course will teach you:
Four rules of firearm safety
Interlimb interaction
Five elements of shotgun technique
Shotgun theory of A, B, and C zones
How shotgun patterns with different ammo at different ranges
Different methods to safely carry a shotgun
Basic loading, unloading, reloading
Sling mount and dismount
Marksmanship basics
Outdoor, low and indoor ready
Zeroing, trajectory and patterning
Reloading, 2+2 drills
Malfunction clearances; class 1 & 2
Failure drills
Ballistics discussion
Cleaning and maintenance

The equipment you will need includes:
A reliable shotgun - pump or semi-auto, 18-21” barrel preferred
Ammunition carrier – side saddle, bandoleer, Choate belt holder
We will work with any type of carrier you bring or just loading from your pockets
Eye protection (sunglasses or eyeglasses are fine)
Hearing Protection
Ammunition requirements;
100 rounds of birdshot
25 rounds of 00 buckshot
25 rounds of slugs (whatever you’d like, low recoil is best)

Class is limited to 16 people.

I got to go to a four hour tactical pistol class with Mike in June. He is the schnizit. I can truly say, that at the end of the four hours I was shooting better then when I started. If you ever get the chance to train with Mike, do it.
