DIY Garage in Westminster

Replaced shocks, oil change, fuel filter, etc... general maintenance on my pickup. I have gotten lazy taking my cars to the Jiffy Lube and try to ignore their upselling. I recall using the base garage many years ago when I was in the Army and I have always wondered why someone hasn't opened something similar for shade tree mechanics who would like the use of a lift.

Well, here it is. I just wanted to pass along to those of you who may be in the north Denver metro area and getting tired of laying on the concrete with little light and never the right tool. DIY has three options, Do it yourself at $30 per hour, Do it with a little help for $50 per hour and Do it for me at $90 per hour. The website does a nice job of explaining what you get for your money. The mechanic working today kept busy helping several of us as we got stuck on various big and small problems. Very low key and only helped when asked. All of my work today was Do it myself, and I had the mechanic help me several times when I asked for help. I wouldn't use them for everything, but for the things where I feel comfortable and jobs I know I can do with just a little supervision, this is a great resource.

I have no stake in this business. Just thought I'd pass it along for anyone wanting to save a little money on vehicle maintenance.

Somehow I suspect changing the fluid or whatever in my DSG on the R32 is gonna be a bit beyond something I could do here. (Especially since I'd still need to bribe my friend of a friend to do the labor but still try to come in under the service departments $)

They have you sign a liability waiver, but who doesn't today? You are not permitted to operate the lift. One of the employees set the lift and they will raise and lower at your request. I never waited more than a minute to get the lift raised or lowered. The mechanic will inspect your work if you ask.

I watched a guy install a sun roof in a brand new car yesterday while I was there. I would think you must know what you are doing before cutting a hole in a brand new car...even if it is a Hyundai. [Coffee]

He looked like he had done that type of thing many times in the past. My guess is he was just taking advantage of the work space and the air tools. I certainly don't have the knowledge and would not consider doing that type of work by myself. Another guy was reupholstering a seat. That seemed like the type of thing I could just do in my garage, but the guy might not have had a garage to do the work in at home. Seems like most of my neighbors couldn't get a vehicle into their garage. Everything else, yes, vehicles, no.

Middle of the day the skies opened up and it poured for almost an hour. One more reason not be laying on my back under a set of ramps.

It's not for everyone, but it is nice having another option.

Thanks for the report on this place! I've been very interested in it since I heard of it. I really need to replace the tre's on my Silverado, and I'm way too fat and busted up to attempt it in my driveway. This garage sounds like the perfect solution, I just wish it was closer to Parker. It would be even better if one opened up in the South Metro area.

For any military folks down south, the Air Force Academy has a really nice DIY shop on base near the community center. I've used it several times.
