The Army’s New Handgun: A Weapon for Criminals?

There’s a new semi-automatic handgun on the horizon for the Army that U.S. consumers may have access to almost immediately. When that happens, America’s emergency rooms better be prepared for the carnage that’s likely to follow.

Looks like they'll give anyone a job in 'journalism' these days.

Better get the er ready the new army handgun is going to be more powerful and better for battle and us civilians will get our hands on them and not know what to do with this new technology.
I cant wait to find out what the army goes with, i just hope I can handle it without all that high speed training they will give our troops to handle this new more powerful handgun.

Given current trends in cartridge design and capacity, it'll probably be something super-duper high-velocity in a gee-whiz PDW form factor with lots and lots of fast, little bullets. Handguns aren't as lame if they fire rifle bullets, or nearly so.

I wonder if this new gun will replace the derringer in the top 5 of the most deadly guns?
The comments to the article are funny.
How does one manage to remember to breathe with intelligence levels that low?
I think she knows something we dont.........
Maybe this is going to be a "phased plasma pistol in the 20 watt range," since the new infantry rifle will be a "phased plasma rifle in the 40 watt range,"

This the same chick who got fired for that Pulitzer Prize Hand gun article, in the Rolling Stone
I heard 30cal magazine clip heat seeking incendiary .50CAL military style assault rifle ghost sidearms are on the short list.
What advancements happened when the m9 was adopted? I mean that made shootings more deadly. My next question is about Beretta reliability. Wasn't the fail rate for the m9 in testing something like one stoppage in 1000 rounds and no mechanincal failures? I had one that was utterly reliable.

So, according to this article, the percentage of people in the ER with multiple gunshot wounds went up after the M9 was introduced because it was a revolutionary and scary semi-automatic. Because as we all know, that was the very first semi auto civilians had access to. These dummies are unbelievable.
This must be what she's talking about...

Seriously, guys... this is some sound journalism. See the question mark after the title? They're asking a question, not claiming anything. It opens up the forum to any ridiculous nonsense someone might wish to postulate.

ZS - Totally serious?
Is it anything like Hunter Thompson "reporting" that there's a rumor going around that Edward Muskie was taking the drug Iboigane, thus ruining his political career (later he admitted he started the rumor, but the journalism was solid because he'd only said there was a rumor going around)?

Did that chick get canned?
